BEST BET 🏆
Race 8: No.9 INQUISITIVE LEGEND
The Rosehill-based INQUISITIVE LEGEND is second-up today and looks a solid chance of making it two-straight in this contest. Last start, the Zoustar filly resumed off a lengthy 22-week break when she led from barrier to box in a 1250m Maiden on this track. Jumping form the outside gate (10), Jay Ford worked her to the lead and from there she was never threatened, going on to win by a length on the line. Fitter for that run today, she draws the middle of the pack and has Tyler Schiller as the new pilot. If she finds the front and dictates the speed again, she should prove very hard to run down here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.4 EDGE OF REWARD
The Kristen Buchanan-trained EDGE OF REWARD has improved at each start this time in and in winning form now, looks set for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Reward For Effort gelding was third-up and easily accounted for a BM68, here over 1400m on a Soft 7. With Lee Magorrian in the saddle (for the seventh time) he box-seated to the turn, then took over and went on to win by 1.5 lengths on the line. Now a winner at the track, he meets similar opposition here and boasting a record of seven rides for a win and five minor placings, Magorrian remains the pilot for this assignment. Good early gate speed sees him settling in the first half-dozen from barrier eight and a healthy run in transit has him challenging for victory in this contest.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.5 MAJESTIC STYLE
The Paul Perry-trained MAJESTIC STYLE is three starts into this campaign and despite a wide draw, looks well paced here to figure in the finish today. Last start, the Vadamos mare showed a ton of improvement when she came off a pair of unplaced efforts and beat all but one home in a BM68, here over the mile trip. From the outside gate (13) and sent out a $101 chance, Mikayla Weir settled her near last (eight lengths off the speed) and in the run home, made up many lengths to finish just a neck from victory on the line. Ash Morgan returns for his second ride on the mare who should be near her peak today and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
