BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No.7 THORPE ($2.30 with Palmerbet)
Annabel Neasham saddles-up THORPE here who has shown plenty in his only two starts to date and will take beating in this contest today. The Fastnet Rock gelding won on debut at the Gold Coast before being spelled for almost a year. Then last start, he resumed in a BM58 Hcp at Muswellbrook where he beat all but one home in the 1280m event, beaten a long neck on the line. He jumped from gate 10 (of 12) and due to the wide the draw, Rachal King pushed forward and led early. He showed great fighting spirit that day, holding them all at bay until the finals stages where one managed to grab him on the line. Alysha Collett has the job today and that is made a little easier as the three-year-old gets the gun-run from gate one. Collett gets the luxury of taking a sit behind the pace today with cover and second-up here, the galloper should prove hard to hold out.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 1: No.3 TIA KARETE ($4 with BoomBet)
Canberra galloper TIA KARETE makes his track debut today and looks set for back-to-back victories here. Last start, the Sweynesse gelding came off two tough assignments against strong company when he returned to the winner’s circle by taking out a BM50 Hcp over the mile on a wet track at Moruya. With Quayde Krogh on board, he clobbered his rivals that day, putting more than two lengths on them over the line. Carrying 61kgs that day, he sat behind the speed to the turn, then grew another leg and left them in his wake as he sprinted away for an easy win. He gets the gun-run form gate one today and has Krogh sticking with him for this assignment. This looks no harder and with less weight to carry, he looks the one to beat again.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.6 ROMEO’S CHOICE ($5.10 with BoomBet)
Warwick Farm visitor ROMEO’S CHOICE is in top-shelf form of late and looks more than capable of taking out this contest today. Last start, the Choistar gelding came off consecutive runner-up efforts when he finally shook the maiden monkey off his back, breaking through in a 1200m Maiden on the Beaumont track at Newcastle. Coming from mid-field on the turn, he eased off weakening heels and took over halfway down the straight and went on to record a comfortable win in the end. He climbs up to Class 1 company today and with Robbie Dolan in the saddle for the first time, looks a genuine chance for back-to-back victories today.
