Pakenham Tips 8/08/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 4 No. 6 A QUICK ENUFF – ($3.30)

Keen on QUICK ENUFF in Race 4. The five-year-old was a winner in NSW four starts ago and has since had three runs on the Synthetic, placing in all three. She probably should have won at least one of those and at her most recent start she tackled the 1600m here before just missing in a photo behind Sheza Sniper, while she had a bit on the rest. The daughter of Rich Enuff went 3.1 lengths slower than standard benchmark at her latest, which are the best last start figures of any runner. She draws barrier 3 and will be ridden by Jamie Mott, who is one from three for the stable.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No. 3 ALONG THE RIVER- ($4)

Race 5 is a BenchMark 70 and ALONG THE RIVER can measure up. The Matthew Ellerton-trained galloper resumed with a 5th in this grade at Sandown on a Heavy track on July 20 and was held up in the straight that day before landing four lengths away. That came over the 1000m. Second up last time he was an improver on benchmark figures when winning well at Sandown before placing in a couple of other races. He draws well in barrier 5 and will be ridden by Daniel Moor.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8 No. 1 DICKENSIAN- ($3.60)

We close off proceedings with a BenchMark 58 over the 1400m and DICKENSIAN can end the day a winner. The promising galloper from the Peter Moody stable stepped out on the Ballarat Synthetic on July 19, running 3rd behind Rosalla when resenting the kickback. He went a length faster than standard benchmark that day, which are the best last start figures of any runner. At his debut preparation he produced a personal best when third up to go nearly five lengths faster than standard when 5th behind Zac De Boss at Sandown over the 1300m. That form looks good for this and he draws well in barrier 5.

Best Value 💰 (EACH-WAY)

Race 3 No. 11 LAURIE BLUE – ($7)

LAURIE BLUE might be worth a play in Race 3 of the day at Pakenham. The filly from the Colin Scott camp produced what was the best performance of her career a couple of starts ago over the 1400m on the Synthetic here when running 3rd behind Kween Kanali, beaten half a length. She was wide that day and raced keenly but kept coming. She then found the 1800m at Flemington beyond her when well beaten by Skyphios in a Saturday race. But back in distance and at Pakenham, her form prior to that warrants serious consideration, while she draws well in barrier 5 with the 2kg claimer, Sheridan Clarke, to ride.
