Race 3 No. 5 MR MAGNUS- ($7.50)
MR MAGNUS is worth a play in Race 3 of the evening at Pakenham. The Griffiths/de Kock galloper has had the two career starts, finishing 3rd on both occasions. He last stepped out at Pakenham on April 6 over the 1200m and was held up at the top of the straight before working home well behind Acquarello, going 2.1 lengths slower than standard, which is the best last start figure of any runner. He comes into this with the extra fitness and won’t be too far away in the run with Craig Newitt on board.

Race 7 No 2 NARVAEZ- ($8.50)
NARVAEZ should find this easier than recent runs. The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained galloper drops down from a BenchMark 70 at Sandown on March 29 and worked hard to lead from the wide barrier in the early stages before knocking up late when 9th behind Altivo. He is capable of improvement and draws better than recent runs, while the son of Vancouver does come in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner. Jordan Childs rides and strikes at a very healthy 29% for the stable, providing a 48% profit on turnover.
