BEST BET 🏆
Race 4 No. 1 I NEED A DRINK – ($2.30)
Kayla Crowther got the tactics very wrong with I NEED A DRINK over this track and trip last start. Kayla showed an awareness of her opposition, plus the need to get in from her wide draw. In doing so, she decided to push on with I Need A Drink as fancied rival Midnight Brawler may have tracked behind the 100/1 leader. Crowther seemed intent on holding Rochelle Milnes in behind that horse, perhaps expecting the speed to drop. Instead, Milnes had kicked-up to inside the leader which forced I Need A Drink 3WNC. Crowther decided to take the race by the scruff and sent I Need A Drink to the lead prior to the 800m. They kept up a strong gallop only to be claimed late by Dexter You Devil.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 3 No. 1 JUSTICA’S BONUS – ($4)
Brian Clarke produced immediate results with JUSTICA’S BONUS as the horse came into his stable last prep. Got a long way back at his first run for the stable before catching the eye late over 1000 metres. Still raced greenly at his next two starts as he made okay ground behind Opal Beach, and then showed pace to lead the following start. Both of those races were over 1210 metres here with Justica’s Bonus showing his consistency when placing in both. Clarke sent Justica’s Bonus around in a metro maiden at Murray Bridge where Alana Livesey settled around midfield. She brought him with a well-timed run to score over the 1000 metres and Clarke sent him for a well-earned break. Should enjoy the pressure going on up front before making it two from two under Livesey.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7 No. 1 MESSERSCHMITT – ($8)
Rochelle Milnes will be looking to keep perennial placegetter MESSERSCHMITT smothered-up for as long as possible. Doesn’t seem to matter what class this horse runs in, Messerschmitt is forever running on and catching the eye. Handy effort in town last start behind Prairie Flower who has subsequently won again. Drawn to find plenty of cover early with the 1210 metres looking ideal.
