BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.3 UNCERTAIN TERMS ($1.70 with Picklebet)
Taree galloper, UNCERTAIN TERMS has been knocking on the door for a win and looks poised here to break through today. Last start, the three-year-old gelding made it a hat-trick of podium finishes when he beat all but one home in a Maiden Hcp over 1000m on his home track. Leading from barrier-rise, the hot pace he set early and the heavy track more than likely took its toll on him that day. He ran the trip out, 6.9 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort here by 4 lengths. Ben Looker has the reins today and with a trouble-free run here, he looks the one to beat.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No.5 INSPIRATION ($3.60 with bet365)
Locally-trained by Jenny Graham, INSPIRATION has been locking horns with higher class gallopers of late but dropping back in grade today, looks well placed to bring up her first win for this campaign. Last start, the Duporth mare wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth (of 12) in a Class 2 Hcp over 1420m at Grafton. She ran that out, 2.5 lengths slower than benchmark, the best in this field by 3 lengths. She’s had no luck in five starts at this track but was racing in tougher company. Today she drops sharply in grade and has the experienced Aaron Bullock on board for the first time. Well drawn here and already a winner at the trip, she looks a genuine contender today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.1 TELEGRAPH ($10 with Palmerbet)
The Tony Ball-trained TELEGRAPH is second-up today and looks set to go one better in this contest. Last start, the Cable Bay gelding left the John Smerdon stables and after a 14-week break, made his debut for Ball where he beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1000m at Taree. On a Heavy 8 that day, he ran the trip out, 5 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this line-up. Brooke Stower retains the ride today and gets the gun-run from gate one. The four-year-old maps to settle near mid-field and already a winner when second-up, should prove hard to hold out today at odds. He is well worth an each-way ticket in this event.
