Race 7 No. 6 LORD ARDMORE – ($3.10)

LORD ARDMORE can go on with the job after scoring over the 1800m at Rosehill on July 16. On that occasion, the five-year-old from the Chris Waller stable led them up and kept going in the straight to defeat Francesco Guardi, while there was a four length gap back to Mubariz. He went more than nine lengths faster than standard benchmark and at his third run of his last preparation he held his figures to score over the 1900m at Rosehill. Form at Randwick is solid with two runner-up performances from three races, while he should get the run of the race from barrier 4.

Race 3 No. 1 CADRE DU NOIR- ($5.50)

CADRE DU NOIR looks ready to strike at his third run back from a spell. The Maher/Eustace galloper gets out to the 2400m and was really only warming up late when resuming for his first run in over a year at Randwick over the 1400m on June 11 before stepping up to the 2000m and running 5th behind La Chevalier. In that race he settled midfield and they went hard up in front but he stuck on well to land four lengths from the winner, going five lengths faster than standard benchmark. His best performance in Australia came at his previous third up run when stepping up from the 2000m to the 2400m at Sandown two campaigns ago, improving six lengths on figures to demolish his rivals. Best Value comes up in Race 4 and I’VE BEAN TRYIN can chalk up the hat-trick of wins. The Canberra based galloper comes off a Highway win at Randwick on July 9 and overcame traffic in the straight that day to score by more than a length from Running Bear. That came over the 1400m and the son of Spill The Beans went three lengths faster than standard benchmark, which are the best last start figures of any runner. At his fourth run last time he missed out at Randwick but did improve six lengths on figures so he might have a bit to come, while he gets the 3kg claim from Ellen Hennessy, who rode him to victory last time.
