Randwick Tips 23/07/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 4 No. 5 EASY SINGLE – ($3.40)

EASY SINGLE can bounce back in Race 4 at Randwick. The Maher/Eustace-trained galloper won three starts ago at Flemington when resuming over the 1000m and has had excuses at his two runs since then at Randwick. He was wide without cover on a hot tempo before missing out in narrow fashion behind Siege on June 11 before being held up behind Conscript on July 9 in a race that developed into a sit sprint. The son of Not A Single Doubt likes a Heavy track and went 10.5 lengths faster than standard two starts ago. Suspect he just needs a genuine tempo behind the likes of Prime Candidate in order to fire here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No. 6 MARAKOPA – ($5.50)

The stayers tackle the 2400m and MARAKOPA can continue his impressive recent run. The five-year-old takes on the likes of The Milkybar Kid, who has won his last three by a combined margin of more than 13 lengths but he can serve it up to the favourite. He likes the Heavy and scored by more than five lengths at the track and trip in those conditions back in May before just fading in the last 200m when 5th in the Brisbane Cup (3200m). At his last start, he dropped back to the 2600m in the Stayers Cup (2600m) at Randwick on June 22, finishing runner-up behind Shameless. He went 9.7 lengths faster than standard benchmark last time and 9.8 lengths faster in his win three starts ago. Anything around that mark should see him fight out the finish here.

MULTI ANCHOR

Race 7 No. 2 WAIHAHA FALLS – ($1.60)

No reason at all to suggest why WAIHAHA FALLS can’t make it three wins on the trot when he steps out in Race 7 at Randwick. The John O’Shea-trained galloper has had two runs this preparation with both of those coming over the 1200m at Randwick, winning those by a combined margin of a tick under eight lengths. He relished in the Heavy 9 on July 9 to go 9.6 lengths faster than standard, which are the best figures that any horse in this race has set and four lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. He rises in weight but will get the soggy conditions again and will take a bit of beating.
