BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.10 REDBREAST
The Waterhouse & Bott-trained REDBREAST impressed with two starts in her first preparation and resuming today, looks the one to beat in this contest. Last start, the American Pharoah filly ended that first campaign with a convincing win in a 1400m Maiden at Hawkesbury. With Tim Clark aboard, she led throughout, crossing the line two lengths clear of the pack. Her trial run two weeks back was nothing less than amazing as she led on settling and went on to win the trial under a hold from Tim Clark, putting seven lengths on the rest of them. Entitled to race in something easier, the stable have chosen to take on this challenge and going off her trial effort, they could struggle to catch her today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.7 PRINCESS RAYAA
Ciaron Maher saddles-up PRINCESS RAYAA here who has been a model of consistency in her ten starts to date and second-up today, looks right in the mix among these gallopers. Last start, the British-bred mare was fresh off a lengthy 23-week break when she beat home all but one in a BM72 (F&M) Hcp over 1400m at Warwick Farm. She settled back in the field (on the fence) and keeping her there, Dylan Gibbons saved a ton of ground as she took the lead inside the last 100m but was grabbed by one a little fitter, leaving her with second prize on the day. Fitter for that run and up to a more suitable trip, she draws wide and maps to settle back again with Gibbons remaining in the saddle. All four previous starts at the trip have ended in top-two finishes and with a clear run to the line, she can make it happen again in this contest.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.9 BULLETS HIGH
The Joe Pride-trained BULLETS HIGH is third-up today and at the weights, can give this contest a real shake. Last start, the Ace High gelding settled too far back and the task of making up the ground proved too big in the end, finishing mid-field, five lengths behind Zouatica. Jay Ford was aboard that day and has the reins again for this assignment. He clashes with Zouatica again today but meets him 3kgs better. He does no early work from gate three and fitter for two runs back, he looks set to show a ton of cheek in this event and is well worth an each-way ticket today.
