Race 1 No.2 GURU RAM DAS – ($3.40)
The opener sees the new season three-year-old fillies in action and GURU RAM DAS should go close after a debut effort that saw her finish runner-up at Sandown on debut. That came on July 20 and the Busuttin/Young galloper settled back after botching the start then her cause wasn’t helped due to the slow tempo in the small field. The daughter of Reliable Man worked into it but the start counted against her in the end and she couldn’t reel in Proscenium Arch. She went 2.8 lengths slower than standard, which are the second best figures that any horse in this race has produced. Any improvement off that and she should be hard to beat here.

Race 5 No. 4 LOVIE MAY – ($16)
One at nice odds that shapes as a sneaky chance comes up in Race 5 in the form of LOVIE MAY. The Shea Eden-trained galloper was a winner at Sale over the 1213m two starts ago on a Good track before being sent to Melbourne and battling into 10th behind Throntari in a Saturday race at Caulfield. Her best form has been on top of the ground and she looks set to return to a Good surface for this race. Figures from here win two starts ago and her effort at Caulfield do stack up and she is worth a play at the odds.
