BEST BET 🏆
Race 4 No. 1 ZIPPING BOY – ($2.40)
ZIPPING BOY should be hard to beat in Race 4 of the day. The Jerome Hunter-trained galloper resumed at Caulfield on July 9 over the 1100m after an autumn campaign that saw him fare moderately up in Queensland. In his first up run he was posted wide early on before taking up the running and just being grabbed late by Daralina Belle, going 9.8 lengths faster than standard benchmark. In previous second up runs he has improved on figures, while his first up effort suggest that he is back to the form that he showed for his original stable. The 3kg claim for Celine Gaudry gets him down to a winnable weight.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 2 No. 3 CANBYA – ($3.40)
CANBYA can get the job done in Race 3 of the day at Sandown. The Godolphin galloper was a winner over the 1300m here earlier this preparation and didn’t see out the 1600m at Bendigo two starts ago but produced an excellent performance over the 1400m at Flemington on July 2 in the Rivette Series Final for the fillies. In that race, the daughter of Teofilo settled last in the 11 horse field and produced the fastest last 200m to finish two lengths off the winner, going a very healthy nine lengths faster that standard. Slight question marks on the pace in this race but she drops in grade and might have turned the corner. She should be hard to beat.
Best Value 💰 (EACH-WAY)
Race 6 No. 10 LOTTAROC – ($11)
No reason to suggest why LOTTAROC can’t be a factor in this race after an impressive win in Maiden grade over the 1300m at Hillside on July 13. On that occasion, the Mike Moroney-trained galloper enjoyed the addition of the blinkers by scorching to a three-length win on the Heavy 9 at what was just his second run since coming over from New Zealand. He rises sharply in grade but went 7.4 lengths faster than standard in his recent win, which is better that what any horse in this race has produced in the past two years. He might get similar conditions here again and is well worth a play at the odds.
