Race 8: No. 7 VENGEFUL ($4.20 Palmerbet)
Rosehill galloper VENGEFUL is third-up here and looks set to continue his good work this time in. Last start, the Counterattack gelding was second-up off a six-month absence when he caned a Maiden class field over 1280m at Muswellbrook. With Andrew Adkins aboard, he jumped from gate 12 (of 13) and crossed to settle outside the leader. On straightening, he took control of the race and dashed away to win by more than two lengths on the line. He ran the fastest final 600m sectional for that race as well. Adkins sticks with him today and ideally drawn here in gate two, he will take some beating.

Race 5: No. 3 FANMALIA ($4 bet365)
Locally-trained by Rod Northam, FANMALIA is third-up today and in line for back-to-back victories here. Last start, the Animal Kingdom gelding improved from his first-up effort when he took out a BM66 Hcp over the mile at Tamworth. He settled nicely just off the pace and when Bailey Wheeler asked him for an effort, he delivered, grabbing victory on the line. Wheeler sticks with him here and already a winner when third-up, he looks at well placed on his home track and is clearly the one to beat.

Race 6: No. 12 MY ONE ($16 Palmerbet)
One for value-hunters here is the Taree-based galloper MY ONE who has resumed in great touch and could give this a real shake at odds today. Last start, the Super One filly was fresh off a lengthy 22-week absence when she finally broke through for her Maiden win on her home track over 1007m. She ran her last 600m, 2.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. She also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. She draws wide today but is expected to settle back in the field anyway. With a touch of luck in running, she looks a genuine chance of finishing strongly and figuring in the finish at great each-way odds today.
