Race 2 No. 10 HIGHLAND GIRL- ($3)

This might be the one for HIGHLAND GIRL. The three-year-old has had four career runs and has finished in the top four on each occasion. She comes off a last start effort that saw her land in the runner-up slot on the Pakenham Synthetic over the 1100m behind Corner Off, making up good ground after being held up from the 500m to the 300m. She went 0.3 lengths slower than standard that day, which is better than what any runner in this race has produced. The daughter of Highland Reel led and went 2.8 lengths slower than standard over the 1200m at Mornington prior to that. She looks ready now and just needs to overcome the wide barrier.

Race 4 No. 10 CELTIC GLORY- ($3)

CELTIC GLORY is yet to win in 20 starts but this might be the day for the Dan O’Sullivan-trained galloper. She was excellent in a BenchMark 70 at Flemington on Oaks Day over the 1700m, running on at huge odds to finish 7th behind Matron Bullwinkel, beaten just over two lengths, going 0.8 lengths faster than standard, which are the best figures that any runner in this race has produced. When getting out to the 2000m at her last preparation she produced similar figures when landing within a length of them at Ballarat. She is likely to land off the speed and with any degree of tempo in the race she can get the job done.
