Race 5:  No.2  SKATER

Just half a dozen left to contest this event (after early scratchings) and we are running with the Team Geran-trained SKATER who looks on target for the hat-trick today. Last start, the Jabali mare made it back-to-back wins when she destroyed a BM58 field over 1600m with Damien Thornton aboard. Leading from barrier-rise, they left her alone in front and in the run home, she grew another leg and raced away for an effortless win, crossing the line four lengths ahead of them. That was her first look at the poly track and she handled it with ease, while carrying 60.5kgs if you please. Up in grade today, she drops in weight and has Thornton steering the ship again. She maps to lead the small field again and looks the best of the day.

Race 3:  No.7  PALATIAL PRINCE

The Stuart Kendrick-trained PALATIAL PRINCE is third-up today and ticks enough boxes to suggest he can go back-to-back in this contest. Last start, the Xtravagant gelding was second-up when he returned to the poly track here and enjoyed immediate success when he beat home a BM58 field over the 1400m trip. Box-seating on settling, he drew alongside the leader at the 200m mark, and stride-for-stride they fought out the finish with the five-year-old getting the bob-in on the line. He steps up in grade today but drops 4kgs in the process as Bailey Wheeler takes the reins for the first time. He has by far, the most success on the all-weather track, boasting two wins and three minor placings from his eight starts on the surface to date and with a trouble-free run today, a third victory is on the cards.

Race 9:  No.8  TORRE EGGER

We’re shooting for value here as we run with the Chris Anderson-trained TORRE EGGER who is three starts into this preparation and looks good value for his shot at back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Written By gelding was third-up when he broke through for his maiden win over 1050m at the Gold Coast. The Eagle Farm-trained galloper drew the widest of the seven runners and was never on the track, but still finished too strong for them, crossing the line 1.5 lengths clear in the end. That was his first run on the all-weather surface and the three-year-old handled it just fine. At his peak today, he sees Corbould Park for the first time and from gate six, maps to settle mid-field with cover this time. A clear run to the line should see him figure here and he looks well worth an each-way ticket today.
