Race 1 No. 2 CASARINA – ($3.10)
CASARINA has been flying this preparation and no reason to suggest that the four-year-old can make it back to back wins. A winner of two of three since coming back from a spell, the five-year-old last stepped out at Scone Ove the 1700m and overcame a wide run to gradually wear down his opposition in a BenchMark 66 on July 15. He went a healthy 2.8 lengths faster than standard that day and gives the impression he wants the step up to the trip. He just missed at his only other starts at the track and trip.

Race 6 No. 1 SCORCHED LAND – ($3.20)
SCORCHED LAND should be hard to beat in Race 6 of the afternoon at Tamworth. The five-year-old is another that is in form and scored at Dubbo two starts ago from Ferus with those two putting a big gap on the rest. Her most recent run came at Scone over the 1700m and she was held up as they rounded before grinding away well into 3rd position behind Casarina in a solidly run affair. This looks no harder and the 2kg claim gets her down to a winnable weight.

Race 2 No. 9 EARLY HOURS – ($7)
EARLY HOURS represents a bit of value in Race 2. The four-year-old is yet to win in 11 starts but has placed in four of five at her current preparation. The most recent of those came at the track and trip on July 22 and she settled on the speed before sticking on for 3rd behind Angela Sistina. The locally trained galloper was luckless in her two runs prior to that, including one here over the 1200m. I am keen to stick with her and she has the fitness under her belt after stepping up to the trip for the first time at her most recent start.
