BEST BET 🏆
Race 1: No.1 HELLCIBELL
The Brett Cavanough-trained HELLCIBELL has hit the scene in white-hot form and third-up today looks the one to beat in this contest. Last start, the Hellbent mare continued her unbeaten run of podium finishes when she took out a Class 2 Hcp over 1100m at Scone. Settling outside the leader, she took over at the 200m mark and proved too strong for them in the run home. Aaron Bullock is the new pilot today and ideally drawn in gate two, surely just bad luck beats her here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.8 GRINGOTTS
Ciaron Maher makes the long trip up the M1 with just one runner as he saddles-up GRINGOTTS here for a shot at taking home the Cup. The ever-consistent Per Incanto gelding has been scorching turf around the metropolitan tracks in Sydney and last start, took out a BM88 over 1400m at Rosehill. He adores the 1400m, winning four of his seven previous attempts over the journey. Ash Morgan steers the ship for the big race today where the four-year-old will only strip fitter from that last-start city win. His glowing resume is highlighted with five wins and as many minor placings coming from his 11 starts to date. He settles back in his races so barrier eight won’t be an issue here. He looms as a serious player today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.10 LONHRO’S QUEEN
Second-up today, the Cameron Crockett-trained LONHRO’S QUEEN makes her Tamworth debut today and looks well placed for back-to-back victories. Formerly with the John O’Shea stable, the Lonhro filly had her first start for the Crockett camp last start and resuming off a six-month absence, did enough to take home the chocolates in a 1200m Maiden at Mudgee. Ash Morgan steered the ship that day and sticks with the three-year-old for this assignment. She gets all the favours from gate one where she maps to settle just behind the speed. A clear run to the line should see her hard to hold out again.
