Toowoomba Tips 09/07/2022

Our form expert provides Toowoomba tips for tonight’s horse racing at Toowoomba Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 3:  No. 7  MAEVILA RULER  ($3.80  Palmerbet)

The Mark Currie-trained MAEVILA RULER is a track specialist and third-up tonight looks the testing material in this event. Last start, the Tycoon Ruler gelding improved off his first-up run to finish third in a Class 4 Hcp over 1350m at the Gold Coast. He ran that out, 2.6 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by more than 3 lengths. Angela Jones was aboard that day and is sticking with him here. He maps to settle mid-field from gate seven and should have cover all around him there. Unbeaten at the track and distance and fitter for two runs back, he looks poised to strike tonight.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2:  No. 4  BLUE CORNER  ($2.80  bet365)

The Matt Kropp-trained BLUE CORNER is in outstanding form this time in and looks hard to go past in this contest. Last start, the Fighting Sun mare led from barrier to box in a BM0-55, here over the mile. She ran her last 600m, 4.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the here by 3 lengths and posted the fastest final 400m sectional as well. Drawn in gate six tonight, she maps to settle just off the pace with plenty of early speed engaged in this event. Isabella Rabjones is two from two with the mare and is in the saddle again. All four starts this preparation have ended in top-two finishes and she looks likely to keep that trend going tonight.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 1:  No. 7  OUR SPIDER  ($6.50  Palmerbet)

Local galloper OUR SPIDER is three starts into this preparation and now looks ready to win. Last start, the four-year-old gelding showed plenty of improvement when he beat all but one home in a Class 2 Hcp over 1788m at Dalby. He drew wide that day 8 of 10) but crossed to settle just behind the pace. He finished off well, just not good enough to beat Bold Delago to the line. Shannon Apthorpe sticks with him tonight where he should find this contest a little easier. Already a track and distance winner, he looks great value here and should be there at the finish.
