BEST BET 🏆
Race 8 No. 5 BAKUHATSU – ($4.60)
The strong training performance of Joanna Hassett has seen BAKUHATSU put three wins together since resuming this prep. The pacy six-year-old went from winning a Class One straight through to a victory in open class here a fortnight ago. All three of those wins have been over this track and distance with Bakuhatsu once again lining up against similar opposition here. He led from outside of My Best Effort with his latest win, putting paid to that mare and crossing here by the time they straightened. She’s proven the form since with a close win for us in Cairns and Bakuhatsu has hardly been penalised by the handicapper since.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 9 No. 6 GDANSK – ($16)
There should be enough pressure on up front to afford GDANSK every chance of repeating his last start win in Cairns. He’s rarely far away and the solid local duo of Megan Purvis and Pietro Romeo have the gelding up and about this prep. He’s won two of six since joining the team, the latest of which came when he came out on top over this trip in a close go in a benchmark 70. Romeo gave Gdansk a lovely trail behind the speed with a smother into the straight. Produced him with a sense of timing and can find a similar spot in running from their middle gate.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7 No. 2 MISS BULITZ – ($21)
We’ll go with the local combination of Megan Purvis and Pietro Romeo as we back MISS BULITZ as the first of our bets for the day. The pair landed us a good winner in Cairns last week as My Best Effort saluted and a quick check shows the combination to return a good earn for punters with a good strike rate. Miss Bulitz is on the fast back-up which is a formula proven to be successful with her in the past. Showed good gate speed to lead over 1300 metres here last start. She was racing against her own sex in a Class Six and gave a strong kick into the straight to go all the way. Deeper here, though she is a mare in form and should cross to find the front again.
