BEST BET 🏆
Race 8: No. 11 DUPRIDE STAR ($5.50 Palmerbet)
Locally-trained by Gary Colvin, DUPRIDE STAR has been in the minor money at her past three starts and looks poised to go one better today. Last start, the Pride Of Dubai filly beat all but one home in a Class 2 Hcp, here over 1300m on a Heavy 9 that day. She ran the trip, 2.2 lengths slower than benchmark, the best in this line-up by more than 4 lengths. She is drawn out today (gate 11) but has good early gate speed and maps to be up with them on settling. Down in grade here, Michael Heagney sticks with her today and placed three of three on her home track, looks ready to win now.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No.9 BELL’S INNOCENT ($7.50 Ladbrokes)
Placed nicely at the weights, BELL’S INNOCENT can get the job done here at odds today. Last start, the Bel Esprit gelding beat all but one home in Open company over 1600m at Albury. He ran the last 600m, 4.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by more than 5 lengths. Hannah Williams sticks with him today after her three previous rides all ended in minor placings. Ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to settle better than mid-field and already a two-time winner at the track and distance, he looks right in the mix here at odds.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 3: No. 5 MOHANA ($9.50 Unibet)
Finding form at the right time, Canberra galloper MOHANA ticks the boxes here and looks great value with the bagmen today. Last start, the Uncle Mo gelding came off a BM58 win when he stepped-up in grade and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in a BM66 Hcp, here over 2000m. Jeff Penza was aboard for both those runs and they were run in heavy going. The six-year-old appears to favour the extra ground and steps up in distance yet again today. Penza sticks with him as he draws the fence here and maps to settle just off the speed. Already a winner here, and two-time winner in the going, conditions looks ideal for him today and he looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
