Race 3 No. 5 IRISH BUTTERFLY- ($2.05) 

IRISH BUTTERFLY should be hard to beat in Race 3. The Henry Dwyer-trained galloper was 4th in this year’s Adelaide Cup (3200m) and made his jumps debut recently, clearing out with Elementry, just missing out behind that horse but putting a 12-length gap on the rest of them. That experience should hold the eight-year-old in good stead and we can expect him to go one better here.

Race 1 No. 1 ALAKAHAN- ($3) 

Looking to get the Warrnambool carnival off to a flyer and it is ALAKAHAN that can strike at his first go over the Hurdles. The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper has had some mixed form over the last year and produced some good performances in Sydney this time in 2023 with a 4th in the Manion Cup (2400m) before running 7th in the Sydney Cup (3200m) on a Soft track. He has dropped out of it at his past couple but likes a Heavy track and the Maher stable have a good record in these races with similar horses in the past.

Race 4 No. 11 CAPZINZI- ($7) 

This might be the one for CAPZINZI to break through for her first win. The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper has had the six starts for two minor placings and showed improvement when striking a Soft track at Sandown on April 10, finishing runner-up over the 1200m behind Etincelle, who has since finished runner-up in a BenchMark 64. Capzinzi went 1.3 lengths slower that standard benchmark in her recent race, which is a better figure than what any horse in this has produced. She draws to enjoy a nice run in transit from barrier 5 and gets her chance.
