BEST BET 🏆
Race 4: No. 2 COTTON FINGERS ($3.20 bet365)
Rosehill-based galloper COTTON FINGERS was impressive when resuming and should account for them in this contest if he brings the same form here today. Last start, the Snitzel colt was fresh off a six-month absence when he easily broke through for his Maiden win over 1250m on a Heavy 9 at Canterbury. Even in the conditions, he ran the trip out, 5.8 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by more than 6 lengths. He also ran the fastest final 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. Tommy Berry steered him to victory that day and is back to do it again here. Drawn out today, he maps to settle near mid-field and with conditions to suit, he will take a ton of beating here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No. 2 GLITTERY ($4.40 bet365)
James Cummings saddles-up GLITTERY here who has conditions to suit and looks to bounce back today. Last start, the Medaglia D’oro filly finished out of the money for the third time on a dry track. Despite that, she still covered her last 600m, 7.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by 4 lengths. Reece Jones is in control today and brings a 2kg allowance with him. All three career wins have come on wet tracks and back on a heavy track today, the Godolphin filly looks right in the mix in this contest.
BEST VALUE 💰
Rave 5: No. 8 JUST BUSINESS ($6 Ladbrokes)
Seven-year-old galloper JUST BUSINESS changed stables back in January this year and today, sees his new home track for the first time. Last start, the Shrapnel gelding was second-up when finishing fifth in a Midway BM72 Hcp over 1500m at Rosehill. He finished off the race strongly, running his last 600m, 6 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. He steps up to the mile here and has William Pike sticking with him after last start. He draws the outside gate here but will drop back and settle near the tail anyway. He has placed three times from four previous third-up runs and is a two-time winner in heavy going so conditions favour him here. Fitter today, watch for a big finish from him here.
