BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No.13  EAGLE NEST  ($2.60 with Ladbrokes)

The Rosehill-based EAGLE NEST has come back in top flight and looks the one to beat here today. Last start, the Shalaa filly led on settling and with Tim Clark aboard, gave her opposition a galloping lesson as she broke through for her Maiden win over 1100m at Hawkesbury. She put more than four lengths on them in a glowing display of leading from barrier to box that day. She set a new personal best, running the trip out, 2.3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. The three-year-old also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Clark sticks with her today and from gate four, she maps to settle in the first half dozen with a lot of early pace in this race. Even fitter today after two runs back, she drops in weight and should prove hard to beat here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.2  TSARINA SOPHIA  ($7.50 with Palmerbet)

Boasting a 50% winning strike rate to date, TSARINA SOPHIA drops sharply in grade here and looks well placed to give this contest a real shake at odds today. Last start, the Russian Revolution filly did her best when finishing mid-field in the Group 3 PJ Bell Stakes (1200m) on a Heavy 9 at Randwick. She drew the car park that day (15 of 15) and was never on the track, sitting five horses off the fence (without cover) at one stage. She still managed to run her last 600m, 2.8 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. The stable fit winkers on her for the first time today as Brenton Avdulla returns for this assignment (after steering her to victory at Canterbury four starts back). Better drawn today, is she can find clear passage to the line, she looks a genuine chance of finishing it off in style with a win in this easier contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4:  No.6  LEFT REELING  ($7.10 with BoomBet)

The John Sargent-trained LEFT REELING is three starts into this preparation and dropping back in grade today, looks better placed to bring up career-win number four here. Last start, the Dundeel mare took on a handy field in a BM78 Hcp on Randwick’s Kensington course and wasn’t disgraced finishing mid-field in the 1800m contest. Beaten only 1.5 lengths that day, she ran the trip out, 6.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here. Fitter for those three runs back, she has Nash Rawiller on board today for his second ride on the mare and the extra distance won’t do her any harm at all. She maps to settle mid-field and with a trouble-free run today, she looks in the mix at odds.
