Race 4: No. 2 BRIEF STATEMENT ($1.85 Ladbrokes)
The Alison Smith-trained BRIEF STATEMENT has a resume that boasts seven podium finishes from eight career starts and stands out here as the Anchor Bet for the day. Last start, the Press Statement filly finished bridesmaid for the fourth time this preparation when she beat all but Gallant Star home in a Class 1 Hcp over1110m at Dubbo. She carried 59kgs into that race and came from mid-field to get up and claim the silver medal. Anthony Cavallo returns for the ride today after finishing second with her two starts back. She maps to lead from gate four and should prove hard to run down here.

Race 5: No. 4 WASSERMAN ($2.40 Unibet)
Bathurst galloper WASSERMAN has found his mojo lately and lines-up here as a real winning chance today. Last start the Lonhro gelding hit top gear as he broke through for his maiden win in fine style. He beat home the 14-strong field over 1410m at Dubbo, putting more than four lengths on them that day. After the claim, he carries less weight here and has enough early gate speed to overcome the wide draw. Five starts in, he should be at peak fitness now and will take beating here.

Race 7: No. 6 FERUS ($3 Neds)
The Clint Lundholm-trained FERUS is in career-best form this time in and looks well placed here to keep the trend going today. Last start, the Written Tycoon gelding came off a good win in Class 3 company when he did well to beat all but one home in a BM66 Hcp over the mile at Dubbo. Down in grade that day, he had to lump 61kgs (after a 4kg claim) as he tried to lead all the way in his first attempt at the mile. Today, he steps up in grade but drops back to the 1400m where he is already a two-time winner. Just one previous visit here ended in a victory when he won the Golden Spur in March this year. He will most likely jump as race-favourite but currently represents good value with the bagmen. He’s on top for us today.
