BEST BET 🏆
Race 8: No.8 SURFERS ROYALE ($4.20 with Picklebet)
Warwick Farm visitor SURFERS ROYALE is second-up today, bringing with him a resume that warrants plenty of respect. Last start, the Casino Prince gelding resumed off a 19-week spell and did well to grab third prize in a BM68 Hcp over 1300m on a Heavy 9 at Hawkesbury. Sent out a $9 chance, Rachel King had him box-seating on settling and while no match for the first two past the post that day, battled on gamely to finish ahead of the rest and take home the bronze medal. He covered the trip, 2 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best effort in this line-up. Jason Collett has the job today and back on top of the ground here looks a genuine contender for the major prize.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 2: No.4 DREAMDEEL ($3.60 with Ladbrokes)
Local galloper DREAMDEEL has found his best form of late and looks well placed here for a fourth-straight podium finish today. Last start, the Dundeel gelding tried valiantly to lead all the way but came up against one better on the day, having to settle for second prize in a BM64 Hcp over 1850m at Newcastle. He ran that out, 1 length quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here, setting a new personal best as well. He steps-up in distance today and now six starts into this campaign, he should be fighting fit and ready to rock. Dylan Gibbons sticks with him, having ridden the four-year-old to victory at Gosford three starts back (as well as last start). He has recent runs on the board and looks set to go on with it in this contest.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.7 PRINCESS AMIRA ($6.50 with Neds)
Locally-trained by Damien Lane, Princess Amira made a successful return to the track last start and looks set for back-to-back wins today. Coming off a lengthy 29-week absence, the Written Tycoon mare was ridden a treat by Jenny Duggan as she timed her run well to grab victory in a BM64 Hcp, here over 1100m. Very well supported late in betting ($26 into $13), she sat behind the leader to the turn, then secured a welcomed rails run and drew level, getting the bob-in right on the line. Four starts here has seen the five-year-old secure a podium finish on three occasions and after that last-start win, Duggan sticks with her for this assignment as well. Already a winner when second-up, she can make it two on the trot today.
