Overview
Schuhbeck has finished in the first three in all four starts in the last 90 days and won the most recent of them, and on a Bunbury card heavy with maidens that kind of consistency stands out. The Redink Homes Southwest Handicap at 4:40pm is where we think the day’s best bet sits.
Seven races on a Good track, four of them maidens, then three handicaps to finish. Times below are local (AWST), with the first at 1:31pm and the last at 5:20pm. Course form is thin across most fields, so these Bunbury racing tips lean on recent form, the stables that do well here and a couple of riders who know the track. Below you will find a view on every race, a quaddie from Race 4, and the plays we would make.
Bunbury: the setup
Limited course form across today’s fields. Plenty of runners have three or four starts here, but very few have won. So Immaculate is the exception, with two wins from five at Bunbury, and Extreme Ruler has placed twice from five without breaking through.
The riders and trainers are where the useful numbers live. Austin Galati has the best record of today’s regular Bunbury jockeys, and Michael Grantham‘s stable wins with nearly one in five of its runners here.
| Jockey | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Austin Galati | 31 | 4 | 12 | 13% | 39% |
| Jarrad Noske | 22 | 2 | 6 | 9% | 27% |
| J Whiting | 45 | 3 | 11 | 7% | 24% |
| Chanel Cooper | 41 | 4 | 8 | 10% | 20% |
| Joey Azzopardi | 48 | 3 | 9 | 6% | 19% |
| Trainer | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Summer Dickson | 19 | 3 | 10 | 16% | 53% |
| Tiarnna Noske | 13 | 1 | 7 | 8% | 54% |
| Michael Grantham | 38 | 7 | 17 | 18% | 45% |
| T M Wolfe | 39 | 5 | 16 | 13% | 41% |
| M L Lane | 38 | 4 | 12 | 11% | 32% |
Places count every finish in the first three, wins included.

Bunbury race-by-race tips
Race 1: Bunbury Rsl Diggers Mdn, 1:31pm, 1312m
Six of the eight have never raced, so this is a guess dressed up as a tip. If forced, Make It Snow for Michael Grantham, who has won seven races from 38 runners here. Joey Azzopardi rides from barrier 3.
Blind Shot is the other first-starter to respect, with Austin Galati aboard for R W Price, whose runners have won two of nine at the track. Magnificent Malcom has had three runs here without a placing. Watch race. Small win bet on Make It Snow at most.
Race 2: Trevor Roche Memorial Mdn, 2:18pm, 1531m
Wardikcar has placed in two of three Bunbury starts, and that experience counts in a maiden over 1531m. Galati rides again, this time for Summer Dickson, whose runners finish in the first three more than half the time at this track.
Bondex is the danger. Mack Hall‘s runner was second last start and has placed twice from four runs in the last 90 days. Stern Empire gets in on just 51kg. Wardikcar each-way.
Race 3: Cuprum Distillery – Vodka, Passionfruit & Soda Mdn, 2:48pm, 1203m
Does Cartier Glow finally get the win? The form reads 4-3-2-3, with three placings from four runs in the last 90 days and two placings from three runs at Bunbury. The drop to 53kg with Sharni Webster aboard should help, though barrier 12 means some work early.
Extreme Ruler was second last start and has placed twice in five Bunbury runs. Jarrad Noske is listed on both Last Shout and Top Of The Town, so check the final riding arrangements before you bet. Cartier Glow to win.
Race 4: Hyoketsu Summer Series Mdn, 3:29pm, 1832m
Two horses with honest form and no wins. Ruthless Bloom has placed in two of four runs in the last 90 days and gets Galati for Robert Gulberti. Spiritart has also placed twice, from five runs, and was third last start.
The trip should suit both, and that is the problem: neither has shown the turn of foot to put a race away. She’s Resolute (third last start, 53kg) can sneak into the placings. Each-way on Ruthless Bloom.
Race 5: Swan Draught Hcp (C3), 4:00pm, 1832m
South Hoba won last start and the stable’s numbers back it up: Tiarnna Noske‘s runners finish in the first three seven times from 13 at Bunbury. Jarrad Noske rides on 57.5kg from barrier 5, and with only eight runners there should be no traffic trouble.
Rory’s Revenge has won one of four lately and has the Galati and Dickson combination. Gilded Reign won once from five in the last 90 days. South Hoba to win.
Race 6: Redink Homes Southwest Hcp (C3), 4:40pm, 1094m
Schuhbeck is the most reliable horse on the card. Four runs in the last 90 days, four finishes in the first three, and a win last start. The form reads 8-2-2-3-3-1, which is a horse that has kept improving rather than one that peaked and dropped away.
The sprint trip suits, and 55kg from barrier 6 with P Farrell aboard is a comfortable spot. Neither horse nor rider has a Bunbury win yet, which is the knock, and Schuhbeck went unplaced in both runs here. The current form is better than anything shown at this track.
The Mighty Bell is the danger. A win on the only Bunbury start, a win last start, and Jarrad Noske for B R Larsson, whose runners have won one and placed three times from five here. So Immaculate has won twice from five at Bunbury but has not placed in five runs in the last 90 days. Schuhbeck to win. A saver exacta with The Mighty Bell.
Race 7: Real Punters Play Here Tabtouch Hcp (C1), 5:20pm, 1312m
Merivale Louvain has two starts for a win and a second, and the win came at Bunbury. Joey Azzopardi rides for R W Price on 57kg from barrier 5, a good draw in an 11-runner field.
Galactic Community is the wildcard. One start, one win, and only 53kg for T M Wolfe, but barrier 13 is a test for a horse so lightly raced. He’s A Hustler was third last start and has the Noske booking. Win on Merivale Louvain, small each-way on Galactic Community.

Where the money goes
NAP: Schuhbeck (Race 6, 4:40pm). Four placings from four lately and a winner last time. Hard to find a more consistent horse on this card.
Value: Galactic Community (Race 7, 5:20pm). Unbeaten from one start, with the lightest weight in the race. If the market underrates a once-raced horse from a wide gate, that is where the value is.
Banker: South Hoba (Race 5, 4:00pm). A last-start winner in an eight-horse field, from a stable that keeps getting into the placings here.
Each-way: Cartier Glow (Race 3, 2:48pm). Three placings from four lately. It is due.
Course angle: Austin Galati. Four wins and 12 placings from 31 Bunbury rides, with books on Wardikcar, Ruthless Bloom and Rory’s Revenge today.
The quaddie runs from Race 4 to Race 7. Go wide in the maiden and narrow from there, and Schuhbeck is the leg to anchor.
