Hard to see VIVIANE being knocked off in the final race of the day. She’s absolutely flying with five wins in a row and three of them at Caulfield over 1100m. Here last two at Caulfield on Good tracks were in 1:02.69 with 57kg and 1:02.30 with 53kg. She goes back up to 57kg but still meets Bound For Home better at the weights for beating that horse last time. It’s been a month between runs but Viviane looked in great order in a Flemington jump-out where she was never out of first gear and they ran the second quickest time of 13 800m heats. On times and weights, Hypothetical and Willinga Beast rate around three lengths slower at their best, and Miss Middle Park is the query runner being first-up for the in-form Maher/Eustace yard.

Race 6 No. 6 SPACEWALK $2.60

SPACEWALK was ultra-impressive winning first-up at Warwick Farm over 1000m and gets the services of Jamie Kah with James McDonald unable to keep the ride at 53kg. His last 200m was run in 0:32.42 which was six and nine lengths quicker than the two 1100m races on the day, and he was eased down with 50m to go having put the race to bed within the twinkling of an eye. Lofty Strike did run a track record at Sandown Hillside when first-up last campaign and he should be respected having finished runner-up in both the G1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) and Newmarket Handicap (1200m). But he was cruising in his 800m trial leading into last campaign and has been pushed out in both trials this time in and doesn’t look to be going as well. I think he might need the run.

Race 9 No. 7 NONCONFORMIST $61

Tipping NONCOMFORMIST at big odds here to claim the feature at his third attempt in the race. He was runner-up behind a rampant Incentivise in 2021 and then finished 2.8 lengths from Durston last year after being caught three deep without cover. Form rates well out of the Caulfield Stakes (2000m) behind Alligator Blood where he was held up on straightening and kept coming.
