BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)

Race 9 No. 8 BENEDETTA- ($2.55)

Best bet comes up in Race 9 and it is BENEDETTA that can continue to progress. The four-year-old from the Jason Warren stable has won six of eight and did enough over the 1100m at Flemington when resuming before heading to Caulfield and claiming the Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) on September 2. She takes on the boys this time and went nine lengths faster than standard at her most recent run, which isn’t far off the 12.4 she set over the 1200m here in March. The daughter of Hellbent has options from barrier 8 and should be hard to beat.

Race 2 No 1 SERPENTINE – ($7)

SERPENTINE can go close in Race 2 of the day at Flemington. The six-year-old has been racing well since switching to the Waterhouse/Bott yard with a win and two runner-up finishes from four starts. He resumed at Randwick on September 2 over the 2400m and ran on well to fill the exacta behind Athabascan, going 9.4 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner in this race. Second up last time he improved seven lengths on figures when runner-up in the Premiers Cup (2400m) at Eagle Farm. The son of Galileo was placed at the track and trip on Derby Day and should enjoy a nice time of it from barrier 3.

Race 5 No. 6 I AM UNSTOPPABLE- ($5.30)

Nice return by I AM UNSTOPPABLE at Caulfield on August 19 in the Vain Stakes (1100m). The Lloyd Kennewell-trained galloper settled last in the field of seven before rattling home to finish 3rd, beaten less than half a length by Cylinder. He produced the fastest last 600m, 400m and 200m of the entire day and went 6.7 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is the second best last start figure of any runner. At his only campaign, the son of I Am Invincible was unbeaten in two starts and improved two lengths on figures to score at Listed level in the Redoute’s Choice Stakes (1100m). He can go very close here.
