Does Flirt get the same run again from the inside? That’s the puzzle, and I’m happy to answer “yes” and stake accordingly. There’s a genuine threat in Bolted In from gate 4. He’s trending the right way (2-4231), and Jacob Opperman is one of the best “get a run, save ground, pinch a length” riders at this track — he hits the frame in just over half his Morphettville rides (14 places from 27). If Opperman gets him into that sweet stalking spot, he’s the one most likely to go past late.

Race 4: Sportsbet More Places Hcp (62) — 14:15, 1148m
The market might not be there for us (no odds feed), but the race shape is. Miss Slipstream looks like the right horse to finish the day with: she’s coming off a win (4322-1), she gets in with 124.5, and she maps to get a midfield run with cover from gate 10 rather than being forced to do anything silly early.
This is the sort of 1148m handicap where you can talk yourself into half the field. So I’m going to keep it simple: I want the runner with recent winning intent who doesn’t need to lead, because there are enough drawn wide who will have to push forward and potentially make it messy.
The danger is Sha Na Na (37-912). She’s in form, and the booking of MS L Stojakovic is at least a neutral here — not a high strike rider at Morphettville on raw numbers, but that’s from only seven rides, so I’m not hanging a case on it either way. If the speed collapses and they fan, Sha Na Na can absolutely be the one launching down the middle.
