BEST BET 🏆
Race 5: No. 4 STRATUM PRIDE ($5.50 with Palmerbet)
The Keith Dryden-trained STRATUM PRIDE is back to make it third time lucky at the track and after three-straight podium finishes this preparation, looks the goods today. Last start, the Stratum Star filly stepped up to city-class company for the first time when she took on a Class 3 field over 1500m at Randwick. She finished third in the event, running the trip out, 2.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field by more than 5 lengths. She also posted the fastest final 400m sectional for the event. She brings that form back to the country circuit today and after three runs back, she should be at her peak today and prove very hard to beat in this contest.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No.3 HONEYSUCKLE CHOICE ($5.50 with Palmerbet)
Canberra galloper HONEYSUCKLE CHOICE has been impressive in both visits to this track and in peak condition today, looks a genuine threat in this line-up. Last start, the Choisir mare beat all but one home in a BM58 Hcp, here on a Heavy 8 over 1300m. With Brendan Ward aboard, she carried 60.5kgs that day as she came within a whisker of victory, arriving a short head too late to take the honours. She meets similar company here with Ward remaining in the saddle for today’s contest. She boasts a solid wet-track record and is also a winner at the track. Her claims for victory here are strong today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 8: No. 10 POETIC MISS ($7.50 with Palmerbet)
Nowra galloper POETIC MISS is second-up today and ticks enough boxes here to get the value-hunting punters feeling positive about her chances here. Last start, the Poet’s Voice mare was fresh off a 16-week spell when finished fifth in a Class 1 Hcp over 1000m at Gosford. She ran that out, 4.3 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this line-up by more than 4 lengths. The Heavy 8 conditions today will suit as she has placed in both previous starts in the going. Already a winner when second-up, Brock Ryan was aboard for her Maiden win and sticks with her today. With that resume, she looks great value here and well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
