Our form expert provides Murwillumbah tips for today’s horse racing at Murwillumbah Racecourse and gives his best bets.
BEST BET 🏆
LOBURN LASS (Race 7, No. 2 – $4.40)
Gold Coast-based galloper LOBURN LASS is three starts into this preparation and dropping in grade today, should prove hard to beat. Last start, the Dissident mare stepped-up to BM68 company and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth (of 12) in the 1400m event at Gatton. She ran the trip, 2.4 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this line-up by more than 5 lengths. Apprentice Jai Williams has the reins today and after his claim, she lines-up here with 57kgs to carry which is a fair weight, given she drops in grade. She maps to settle near the speed and after those three runs, should be near her peak now and looks the testing material today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
BULLET HERO (Race 4, No. 3 – $5.50)
Gold Coast galloper BULLET HERO sees the Murwillumbah track for the first time today and on current form, he looks a genuine winning chance. Last start, the Vancouver gelding rung-up his first win for this campaign when he broke through for his maiden win on his home track over 1800m. He covered the trip, 6.2 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best effort here. He also posted the fastest final 800m, 600m and 400m sectionals for the race. Throw in four podium finishes from his six starts this time in and his resume doesn’t look too shabby from here. Tegan Harrison is in charge today and with a trouble-free run, he looks a genuine contender.
BEST VALUE 💰
I’M GUNNA CASHEW (Race 5, No. 4 – $10.00 Each-Way)
Matt Dunn saddles-up I’M GUNNA CASHEW today and fitter for one run back, could surprise here. Last start, the Exceed And Excel mare returned to the track after spending the last six months in the paddock, and clearly in need of the run, finished mid-field in a Class 2 Hcp, here over 1100m. Despite finishing out of the money, she ran the trip, 1.5 lengths slower than benchmark, setting a new personal best and that was the best last-start effort in this field by more than 5 lengths. Luke Dittman has the reins today and from gate two, gets the gun-run and maps to settle just behind the pace. A winner when second-up last preparation, she could easily pop-up here at double-figure odds today.
