Overview
Bradford has won his last two starts and placed in all four of his runs over the past three months. He closes the Muswellbrook card in the Mangoola Coal BM66 with Ashley Morgan, who has ridden seven winners from seventeen rides at this track, and that is as strong a pairing as the Hunter Valley offers on Sunday.
Morgan’s name is the thread through the whole day. Six rides on the card, including the P Messara & L Gavranich runner in the opening maiden, and that stable has won half of its 24 races here. Muswellbrook races seven times on a track rated Good to Soft, from a 1500m maiden at 2:00PM to the 1500m BM66 at 5:36PM. These Muswellbrook racing tips lean on the local jockey and stable numbers, which are deep here, and on recent form where the horses have it. There’s a race-by-race view below and the bets we would actually have at the end.
Muswellbrook: the setup
A handful of runners have three or more starts here, and the ones worth knowing are the placegetters.
| Horse | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Supido Star | 3 | 0 | 2 | 0% | 67% |
| City Gold Speed | 3 | 0 | 2 | 0% | 67% |
| Executive Decision | 3 | 0 | 2 | 0% | 67% |
| Jason Darren | 4 | 0 | 2 | 0% | 50% |
| Snitzenegger | 3 | 0 | 1 | 0% | 33% |
The riders are where the real edge is. A Bullock has fifteen wins from 43 rides at Muswellbrook, and Ashley Morgan‘s strike rate is even better.
| Jockey | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ashley Morgan | 17 | 7 | 12 | 41% | 71% |
| A Bullock | 43 | 15 | 30 | 35% | 70% |
| Jasmine Urquhart-Warren | 6 | 2 | 4 | 33% | 67% |
| Mitchell Bell | 51 | 11 | 30 | 22% | 59% |
| Gabrielle Johnston | 19 | 4 | 10 | 21% | 53% |

Muswellbrook race by race
Race 1: A Corp Computers Country Boosted Mdn Hcp, 2:00PM, 1500m
P Messara & L Gavranich have won twelve of their 24 races at Muswellbrook, and they bring Moongleam back here after a 5th on debut. Ashley Morgan rides, barrier 2 gives a soft run, and second-up is often where a stable this sharp gets the result. At $6.00 with Unibet, that’s the value in the race.
Kenisis is the favourite at $2.90 with Unibet and has placed in two of her three recent runs, but she has been 5th, 3rd, 3rd, 5th in her last four and hasn’t won yet. Braith Nock rides from barrier 10. She’s the main danger. Moongleam each-way, with Kenisis in the exacta.
Race 2: Muswellbrook & District Workers Club Mdn Plate, 2:35PM, 1280m
Usain Boss has placed in four of his five runs over the past three months and finished 2nd last time. He has H Van Der Hoven aboard for Annabel Neasham & Rob Archibald, who have won twelve races here, and barrier 9 is workable in a big field.
Crunch is the stablemate at $3.40 with Unibet and ran 4th then 5th in two starts, so Usain Boss ($3.30 with Unibet) has the better form line. Ready Made Heir placed in both Muswellbrook starts, but barrier 19 is a real problem. Usain Boss to win.
Race 3: Power FM Plate (C1), 3:10PM, 1750m
Tacitly has run 2nd five times in six starts. That’s either a horse about to win or a horse that doesn’t want to, and this race asks which one.
Purple Haze is the answer we prefer. He won last start, has a win and two placings from two runs in the past three months, and Ashley Morgan rides. Tacitly gets Braith Nock and the Neasham stable, and he’ll be in the finish. Whoopi Do won two starts back and has A Bullock, who wins more than a third of all rides here. No market up. Purple Haze to win, Tacitly and Whoopi Do in the trifecta.
Race 4: Saunders Motor Group Hcp (C1), 3:45PM, 1000m
Magic Storm won at her only start and goes up in grade with 55.5kg and Ashley Morgan for Cameron Crockett, who has three wins from sixteen runners here. One run is one run, but a debut win over a sprint trip is a decent starting point in a C1.
Cosmic Jinks won last time for the Cavanough stable and Mitchell Bell, and she has a win and three placings from four recent starts. That’s the danger. Supido Star has placed in two of three Muswellbrook runs and gets A Bullock, so she is the each-way option from barrier 2. Magic Storm to win, Supido Star for the place.
Race 5: Scone Rural Supplies Crt (Bm58), 4:20PM, 1000m
Blue Dane has placed in all three of her runs in the past three months and in both of her Muswellbrook starts. She drops to 56kg, five kilos under topweight Take The Jackpot, with Liberty Smyth riding for S Harvey, who has three wins and six placings from eight runners here.
Take The Jackpot is the danger. He has two wins from his last five runs, but 61kg over 1000m is a lot, and Jenny Duggan has two placings from 21 rides here. It Stays In Vegas has Jasmine Urquhart-Warren, who has two wins from six rides at the track, but he was 6th last start. Blue Dane each-way.
Race 6: The Remington Muswellbrook Country Boosted (Bm58), 4:55PM, 1280m
A weak race. Raguel is the pick on form: a win and two placings from three recent starts for T S Howlett, ridden by Jack Baker, and only 58kg as a three-year-old in an older-horse race. His two starts here didn’t produce a placing, which is the knock.
Alarthill won at her only Muswellbrook start for MS J Bowen, and that is the one that worries us. Fearn Trick won three starts back for R Lomax. Small win bet on Raguel, nothing more.
Race 7: Mangoola Coal (Bm66), 5:36PM, 1500m
Bradford is the best bet at Muswellbrook. He has won his last two, and his four runs in the past three months have all been in the first three. Cody Morgan trains him, Ashley Morgan rides, and on 59kg he gets two kilos from topweight Kaazi.
Barrier 12 is the only real negative. From there, Ashley Morgan can either push forward early or settle and come wide, and in a field of this size that costs a length or two. A horse in this sort of form usually has a length or two to spare.
Vltava is the one to beat him. He has run here twice for a win and two placings, and he won three starts back before two runs out of the frame. L P Rolls rides for Joel Wilkes. Supreme Statement has placed in both of his Muswellbrook starts and is the trifecta horse. Kaazi carries 61kg for the Neasham stable and Braith Nock, and that weight is the reason to leave him out of the top two.
Bradford to win. He’s the NAP.

Where the money goes
NAP: Bradford (Race 7, 5:36PM). Two straight wins, placed every time in the past three months, and the rider with the best strike rate at the track.
Value: Moongleam (Race 1, 2:00PM), $6.00 with Unibet. Second-up for a stable that wins half its Muswellbrook starts, with Ashley Morgan aboard.
Banker: Usain Boss (Race 2, 2:35PM), $3.30 with Unibet. Placed in four of five recent runs and the best form in a weak maiden.
Each-way: Blue Dane (Race 5, 4:20PM). Placed in all three recent runs and both course starts, with five kilos less than the topweight.
Course angle: Ashley Morgan and A Bullock between them have 22 wins from 60 Muswellbrook rides. If you are building a multi here, start with their mounts.
The P Messara & L Gavranich stable sends only a few horses here, but at twelve wins from 24, every one of them belongs in the multis whenever they turn up.
