Race 8: No.14 (e) NAVAL SEAL ($4.00 with Palmerbet)

Chris Waller has NAVAL SEAL engaged here as the first emergency and should he gain a start, he will prove hard to beat in this contest. Last start, the Snitzel gelding made it two wins from his past three starts when he comfortably took out a BM72 Hcp, here over the 1800m journey. He settled mid-field and finished too strong for them, winning by 1.5 lengths on the line. He recorded the fastest final 800m, 600m and 400m sectionals for that event. His six career starts have ended with five podium finishes and now a track and distance winner, he looks the testing material here.

Race 6: No.6 KALINO ($5.50 with Palmerbet)

The Chris Waller-trained KALINO has three starts behind him this preparation and looks set for back-to-back victories here. Last start, the Pierro gelding made it third time lucky when he scored his first win for this preparation in a BM72 Hcp over the mile at Randwick. He ran his last 600m, 8.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here while also posting the fastest final 800m and 600m sectionals for the race. Fitter for those runs, he should be at his peak here and has Chad Schofield backing up for the ride. Ideally drawn in gate three, he should be there when it counts.

Race 9: No.7 YIYI ($18.00 with Palmerbet)

Chris Waller has six gallopers listed here and amongst them is YIYI who boasts a solid fresh record and looks a good chance here at big odds. Last start, the No Nay Never gelding ended his last campaign with a poor showing, finishing last of 12, in a BM88 Hcp over 2000m on a Heavy 10 at Randwick. He drew the outside gate that day and was trapped three-deep (without cover) most of the way, leaving no gas for the run home. The four-year-old resumes here from an 18-week break and is a two-time winner when first-up. He also boasts a strong track record, finishing top-two in all four appearances at Rosehill. Back on a dry track here, he can give this a real shake at double-figure odds.
