BEST BET 🏆   

Race 9 No. 1 HEDGED- ($2.30) 

HEDGED can rejoin the winners list in Race 9. The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained galloper was solid when fresh over the 1100m behind Estriella before heading to Randwick on April 13 and just missing out in the Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint (1200m) behind Joliestar. He overcame traffic at the top of the straight, producing the fastest last 400m and 200m to go 8.9 lengths faster than standard, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. The son of Capitalist has the class edge on this lot and draws to get the perfect run from barrier 4.

Race 1 No. 3 BEWS- ($3.40) 

BEWS can go close in the opener. The four-year-old has had the one start this campaign, producing a real eye catcher from back in the field to finish a narrow runner-up behind Oracle Son on April 6. That was at the track and trip and the Mick Price/Michael Kent Jnr-trained galloper produced the fastest last 800m, 600m, 400m and 200m of the entire meeting. He draws to land a little closer in the run this time around from barrier 3 and will strip fitter.

Race 4 No.10 NAICONI- ($5) 

NAICONI can just about make it back to back wins when she steps out in Race 4. The promising galloper from the Tony & Calvin McEvoy stable has had the seven career starts for three wins and three runner-up efforts and resumed with a strong win at Sandown over the 1200m on April 10 ahead of Marigold. This is a bit of a step up but the four-year-old comes in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner, while she was a big improver on figures at her previous second up run when winning at Sandown. At her only start at the track and trip she was runner-up at Listed level last November in a race that provided a stack of winners. Luke Currie rides and the pair draw perfectly in barrier 3.
