Race 8 No. 4 WEST WIND BLOWS- ($2.80)
Hard to go past WEST WIND BLOWS in the Champions Stakes, based on what he has done in his two Australian starts. The UK galloper finished ahead of Romantic Warrior at the track and trip when runner-up here in the Turnbull Stakes (2000m), while his run behind Without A Fight was excellent in the Caulfield Cup (2400m). That horse has since saluted in the Melbourne Cup (3200m). The five-year-old draws to save plenty of ground from barrier 2 and if the gaps open up in the straight he should be very hard to beat.

Race 4 No. 9 MURAMASA- ($5)
MURAMASA is flying at the moment and only needs to reproduce recent efforts to take this out. The promising four-year-old from the Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young stable has claimed both of his two runs this time in, cruising home in a BenchMark 78 over the 1630m two starts ago before running on strongly to enjoy Group 3 success in the Coongy Cup (2000m) at Caulfield on October 18. He settled back before producing the fastest last 400m and 200m, going a healthy 14.3 lengths faster than standard benchmark. The son of Deep Impact was solid when 5th in the Victoria Derby (2500m) at his only other previous go above 2000m.

Race 9 No. 10 REY MAGNERIO- ($4.65)
The sprinters tackle the 1100m in the final race of the Flemington carnival and REY MAGNERIO (10) can end the day a winner. He was luckless at the track and trip three starts ago when 3rd behind Dancing Alone in what has turned out to be an excellent form race. Since then, the Robbie Griffiths and Matt de Kock-trained galloper has toyed with his rivals at both Sale and Pakenham. The son of Magnus will tuck in just behind them from barrier 4 and is capable of closing off very strongly.
