BEST BET 🏆   

Race 8:  No. 4 IMPERATRIZ ($1.95) 

IMPERATRIZ is a clear top pick in the feature of the day, the Group 1 Lightning Stakes. The five-year-old has won 17 of her 23 starts and is five from six when fresh. Her figures from 2023 are superior to the runners in this field. While her trial at Cranbourne could have been better, she has reportedly worked well since then and she enjoyed the Flemington straight at her only start at the track, which was the final run of her spring campaign.

Race 4:  No. 4 WHO DARES ($4.20) 

WHO DARES shapes as a solid player in Race 4 of the day at Flemington. The consistent galloper was a winner at Sandown three starts ago and has finished runner-up at his past two. He narrowly missed out at Listed level two starts ago over the 1400m alt Flemington before working hard early at his latest when runner-up behind Jimmystar at Caulfield. The son of Deep Field will look to cross from the wide barrier and we can expect to see him fight out the finish. 

BEST VALUE 💰   

Race 10:  No.9 HE’S OUR BONNEVAL ($13.20) 

Best Value comes up in the final race of the day and it is HE’S OUR BONNEVAL that can go close at the each-way quote. The seven-year-old was excellent on resumption over the 1400m at Flemington in this grade, settling back before working home for 4th in a strongly run race behind Dance To Dubai. Second up at his last preparation, the Busuttin/Young galloper improved four lengths on benchmark figures to finish runner-up at Sandown. He draws wide for this and will get back but tempo looks solid enough. Luke Currie rides and provides a 24% profit on turnover when combining with the stable.
