The extra trip is the query for a few of these, but Zelestial shapes like a runner who can build through his gears rather than rely on a short sprint. From barrier 2, Deon le Roux can put him into the race early and make it a staying contest — the kind of run where consistency beats flair.
I’m wary of the Taree angle with Mr Plume. He’s had two visits for a win and another run that wasn’t as sharp (so: a positive hint, not a “track specialist” call), and his recent form is strong: 7-66313. Over the same 90-day window he’s had five goes for a win and three placings. If the tempo stays even and he gets a run at them from the 600m, he can roll right over the top.

Race 4: Get Your 2026 Mvrc Membership Hcp (C3) — 16:05, 1094m
Does Miss Defy repeat her Taree trick? She won on her only start at the track — again, that’s a single data point — but it does tell you she handles the place. More importantly, her wider profile says she’s capable of turning up and running a proper race: in the last 90 days she’s had three starts for a win. The rest of the form looks ugly (10-610), but that’s exactly why she’s the interesting runner rather than the “safe” one. You’re betting on the good version showing up.
The map helps. Barrier 3 lets Leeshelle Small land closer than she could from wide, and in these short-course country races, position can be half the battle. If Miss Defy finds the rail and gets a breather, she can pinch it.
The danger is Sosueme (gate 8). His form is honest and progressive (36-515) and he’s also a recent winner in the last 90 days (three runs for one win). If he crosses cleanly or slides into the right lane without burning fuel, he’s the one most likely to bully the race into his shape.
What I’m not doing: trusting Hard Knock Life on recent evidence. And there’s no recent 90-day run data for him in the stats window, which makes him a harder horse to bet with confidently today.
Staking: Each-way Miss Defy (because the risk is real, but the upside is there). Save win-only on Sosueme if he looks to control the speed.
