The stablemate angle adds pressure on the market too: A & S Freedman bring two — Aryaam (Tommy Berry, gate 4) and Ektifire (Tim Clark, gate 2). If you’re playing purely off “who’s best at the track,” Tim Clark is the standout jockey on the card (5 wins from 13 rides here), and he’s drawn to stalk. The issue: Ektifire’s only public form is a “5”, which can be read a dozen ways in a juvenile. Aryaam is the other Freedman with Berry — and Berry rides Warwick Farm well enough (19 rides, 4 wins, 9 placings) that you respect any late push for it.

Race 2: Asahi Super Dry Mdn Hcp — 14:20, 1094m
Here’s the puzzle: do you want the rider edge or the stable edge? Because Warwick Farm rewards both, and this is another 2YO maiden where you’ll be betting on intent.
I lean to Belvante (A & S Freedman / Tommy Berry, barrier 1). The gate matters at 1094m when they’re learning on the job — barrier 1 gives Berry the option to hold the fence and make everyone else go around, or pop off if the inside chops up. Belvante’s form reads “7-”, which isn’t a sales pitch, but it does mean we’re not guessing entirely. If it has any improvement at all, the draw can make it look better than it is.
The horse that can beat it without asking permission is Baylie’s Folly (Matthew Smith / Kerrin McEvoy, barrier 2). McEvoy is the kind of rider who keeps 2YOs balanced, and barrier 2 is the “sweetheart” alley — close enough to be prominent, not so tight you’re stuck behind a green one.
I’ll also keep an eye on Zensen (Portelli / Rachel King, barrier 5). King’s small Warwick Farm sample is outstanding and she’s paired with a trainer who isn’t afraid to strike when one’s ready. Zensen’s “9” reads plain, but second-start juveniles can jump sharply.
Play: Belvante win. If the market overreacts to that first-run “7-” and you can get place/each-way terms that make sense, I’m happy to take the insurance.
Race 3: Hyland Race Colours Mdn Plate — 14:55, 1531m
The contrast race on the card: Sphere looks like a horse that’s been circling a win for weeks, while Eynesbury has the “one good run and a few forgive” profile. Different roads, same destination — a maiden that’s there to be taken.
I’m with Sphere (barrier 1). That draw is gold at 1531m: Jason Collett can make it a clean, low-stress run and force the others to take gaps when they appear. The form line “6/3233” is the kind you back in maidens — consistently in the fight, not finding reasons to down tools. It also helps that Sphere has placed on its only Warwick Farm run (one start here, finished second). One run isn’t a trend, but it’s reassurance the track doesn’t knock it around.
The danger is Maidoff (barrier 8). It’s been banging on the door (“03-232”) and Dylan Gibbons can rate them well when he gets cover. Maidoff has also placed on its only start at Warwick Farm, so you’re not guessing about suitability. If they overdo it early and the inside gets cluttered, Maidoff can be the one peeling wider with momentum.
What I’m not doing is blindly taking the “big name” angle with the Waller pair just because they’re Waller. Waller’s Warwick Farm strike-rate on volume is poor (38 runners here for just 1 win), and while the stable still places plenty, you can’t keep paying overs on reputation when the conversion isn’t there.

Race 4: Irresistible Pools And Spas Mdn Plate — 15:30, 1203m
The market usually gets seduced by “new” in these midweek maidens, but I’m happier backing the stable that turns 1200m races into a pressure test. Metallic Cat (Waterhouse/Bott / Tim Clark, barrier 5) fits that plan perfectly: a trainer/jockey combo that already has the strongest course edge on the page. Waterhouse/Bott win nine from 17 here; Tim Clark wins five from 13. That’s enough volume on both sides to treat it as a real lean, not a coincidence.
The set-up looks kind as well. There’s speed drawn around it and wider — Star Half is out in 11, Call Me Rookie in 10, The Champion in 9 — which often forces those runners to spend early. From gate 5, Clark gets to choose: press on and own the outside line, or take the sit and let the wide ones do the work.
The danger is Castlejohn (Joseph Pride / Chad Schofield, barrier 1). Gate 1 at 1203m can win you the race before you’ve earned it, and Pride has enough Warwick Farm volume (9 runners) that you respect any runner he places here. If Schofield holds the fence and the leaders hand up mid-race, Castlejohn can pinch it.
I’m also treating Look Here (Snowden / Berry, barrier 7) as the “if they go too hard” runner — the form “53373-” says it’s often thereabouts without breaking through, but that’s exactly the profile that picks up pieces when the speedsters cook themselves.
Play: Metallic Cat win. Save on Castlejohn if the track pattern is favouring leaders/rails by this point in the day.

NAP: Metallic Cat (Race 4, 15:30). I’m backing the combination of the day’s strongest course stable and the card’s best Warwick Farm jockey profile — and the draw gives them options rather than excuses.
Value: Hellenic Belle (Race 1, 13:45). In 2YO maidens I’ll pay for map and rider decision-making, and barrier 3 with Hyeronimus is exactly that. If the market fixates on the flash stables, you can get overs.
