Balaklava Tips 12/10/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 6 No. 3 SEA WITNESS – ($3.20)

We went oh so close with #SABlackbookers horse SEA WITNESS two starts ago on the  Morphettville track. Lizzie Annells gave him a perfect ten of ten ride, building momentum over the 1000 metres before going for home by the furlong. Still a little soft into his campaign, Sea Witness was nabbed on the line by a horse who had the cold sit. We stayed out last start owing to the tricky draw and with rain on the radar last start. Jason Benbow inevitably got the job done in a sharp BM68 with the horse third-up on a good deck. Rain forecast again; however, the Balaklava track is currently rated as a Good 3 surface and should race well.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8 No. 11 SAND CAT – ($9.50)

Trainer Emma Hubbard has her bonny mare SAND CAT fast approaching start number one hundred with another win beckoning. Sand Cat got up to score in similar company at Gawler a few runs back before finishing close-up again. Hubbard gave her a little let-up with Sand Cat having the two runs back. Her most recent run keeps her in contention as she finished behind the placegetters on a Heavy track. She was forced to check off the winners heels several times into the straight and should’ve finished closer. Chances improve back on top of the ground and Sairyn Fawke can give her a good run behind the pressure.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5 No. 3 BRAZILLIANT – ($21)

Good to see the return to the winners list of BRAZILLIANT in Jamestown last start. The capable nine-year-old had been kept ticking over by Darryl Oxlade, with the trainer sending him up North. Never troubled the scorer’s without being beaten far in the Northern Territory. Bumped into a heavy track two back when racing here on Cup Day which has never been to his liking. Jade Doyle controlled the 1340 metre race at Jamestown last start with Brazilliant responding as Augusta Rock loomed out wider with momentum. The pair dug deep to come away again, notching up win number ten. Brazilliant races with a handy strike rate on firm ground and should roll forward again.
