Overview
Mitchell Freedman has sent eight runners to Swan Hill and won with five of them, and on Tuesday he brings five more: She’s Loaded, Efreeti, Motiver, Switch Hit and Yoomee Wonder. That is the strongest trainer record on the card by a distance, and it gives an eight-race program built on four maidens and four Benchmark 62 handicaps a thread worth following.
These Swan Hill racing tips cover all eight races on a Good turf track, from the 1:30PM maiden sprint to the last of the Benchmark 62 races at 5:00PM. The first half belongs to lightly raced maidens, with a couple of short-priced debutants from big stables to argue with. The back half is where the betting sharpens: Monix has won all three of his starts at this track, Ziggy Bama has won twice in his last four, and the 5:00PM finale has a handful of last-start winners chasing the same prize. Prices were open for Races 1 to 4 when this was written and are quoted where we have them. Markets for Races 5 to 8 had not opened.
Swan Hill: the setup
Limited course form across today’s fields. Only five runners have three or more Swan Hill starts, and just one of them has turned that into wins.
| Horse | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monix | 3 | 3 | 3 | 100.0 | 100.0 |
| Gift Of Oratory | 3 | 0 | 2 | 0.0 | 66.7 |
| Shalailed | 3 | 0 | 1 | 0.0 | 33.3 |
| Solar Mist | 3 | 0 | 1 | 0.0 | 33.3 |
| Donvilla d’Or | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0.0 | 0.0 |
The riding ranks have more depth. D Yendall and H Coffey have both ridden plenty here and both land in the first three more often than not.
| Jockey | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| D Yendall | 19 | 5 | 12 | 26.3 | 63.2 |
| H Coffey | 32 | 8 | 18 | 25.0 | 56.3 |
| John Allen | 11 | 3 | 6 | 27.3 | 54.5 |
| Neil Farley | 29 | 2 | 12 | 6.9 | 41.4 |
| Cian Macredmond | 24 | 4 | 9 | 16.7 | 37.5 |
| Chelsea Taylor | 25 | 2 | 6 | 8.0 | 24.0 |
| Trainer | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mitchell Freedman | 8 | 5 | 5 | 62.5 | 62.5 |
| Ben, Will & JD Hayes | 23 | 5 | 14 | 21.7 | 60.9 |
| T & C Mcevoy | 12 | 3 | 7 | 25.0 | 58.3 |
| Nathan Hobson | 35 | 5 | 13 | 14.3 | 37.1 |
| Patrick Payne | 21 | 3 | 6 | 14.3 | 28.6 |
Coffey rides for the Hayes stable through the day, and that pairing will be short in the market whenever it turns up. Yendall partners three of the Freedman runners, She’s Loaded, Motiver and Switch Hit, which is the combination we lean on most.

Swan Hill race-by-race tips
Race 1: Bet365 Same Race Multi Mdn Plate, 1:30PM, 1066m
What Once Was has done everything but win. His last four starts read 2, 4, 3, 2, he has placed in all three runs over the last three months, and his only Swan Hill start produced a placing as well. Over the shortest trip on the card that consistency counts for a lot, and barrier six gives Fred W Kersley options.
The danger is Ostrom, who brings the Coffey and Hayes combination that rules this track. He ran third two starts back and gets the inside draw. Winna’s Sister is the unknown: a debutant at $4.40 with Ladbrokes, which says somebody likes her.
What Once Was is $2.05 with Neds. Short, but that is fair for a horse that keeps turning up. Win bet, and a natural multi starter.
Race 2: Jarrod Arentz Electrical & Solar Solutions Mdn Plate, 2:00PM, 1312m
Does one run tell you enough? For Magna Sententia it might. He ran second on debut, and John Allen, who has won on three of his 11 Swan Hill rides, keeps the ride for Taige Weir. Weir’s runners here have a habit of finding the frame, five placings from nine, without having won one yet. A second-up maiden off a promising first run is the type that clicks.
Celtic Spy is the one to beat him. The Waterhouse and Bott runner sits at $3.50 with Unibet after a third two starts back, though his latest run was well beaten. Carnevale, a Hayes runner who ran third last time, rounds out the main three.
Magna Sententia is $3.70 with Bet Right, a touch longer than the favourite. Win bet. He is our NAP.
Race 3: Ultima Hotel Mdn Plate, 2:30PM, 1312m
The market problem is Tremont. A first starter for Hayes with Coffey aboard, he is $1.90 with Bet Right without having raced. That price assumes everything goes right on debut.
She’s Loaded has the opposite profile: plenty of races and plenty of near misses. Her form reads 6, 4, 2, 3, 2, 2, she has placed in four of five runs in the last three months, and she comes from Mitchell Freedman, whose Swan Hill runners win more often than they lose. Yendall is the right rider for the job given his record here. She is $4.40 with Bet Right, and against an unraced favourite that is the value on the card.
Gamadale Paddy ran second last time for Weir and Allen, and at $4.00 he is the other danger. Back She’s Loaded each way.
Race 4: Footts Swan Hill Demolition Group Mdn Plate, 3:00PM, 1750m
Two confirmed stayers and a pair of debutants. Town Planner heads the market at $2.80 with Bet Right on debut for Patrick Payne and W Egan, and Windsor Chariot, the Hayes and Coffey runner, is $3.20 with Unibet after finishing seventh on his only start.
Ted Percy is the horse with real lines. His form reads 5, 3, 3, he has placed twice in three runs over the last three months, and the step to 1750m looks right for a horse who keeps finding the line. Chelsea Taylor rides for Nathan Hobson, who has five wins from 35 Swan Hill runners. At $4.60 with Unibet he gives you a solid each way bet in a race where the two shorter chances are guesses.
Town Planner is the danger simply because the market has spoken. Ted Percy each way.
Race 5: Busbiz.Net.Au (Bm62), 3:30PM, 1066m
Ziggy Bama has won two of his last four, banked more prize money in the last three months than anything else in this field, and draws barrier one. His form line of 1, 3, 1, 5 shows a horse running at his level, and the sprint trip suits a horse who wants to be handy from the inside.
Monix is the obvious danger. He has won all three of his Swan Hill starts, and that is not an accident, though he has not won in three runs over the last three months and carries top weight. If the track helps him again, he can beat anyone here.
Do It Now, with a win in his latest start, completes a strong top three. Markets were not open at the time of writing. Win bet on Ziggy Bama, with Monix in exotics.
Race 6: Pooles Accountants & Tax Specialists (Bm62), 4:00PM, 2625m
The staying test of the day, and the race where consistency matters more than a flashy last start. King Kauffo has a win and three placings from six runs over the last three months, more than anything else in this field, and his form of 5, 5, 1, 2, 2, 5 shows a horse who was in the first two three times in a row before his latest run. Over 2625m that kind of reliability is worth more than raw speed.
Only Opera is the danger. She won two starts back and ran second before that, and her latest ninth is the only blot on a sound spring. Motiver, a Freedman runner with Yendall aboard, won three starts back and could improve on his sixth last time.
No prices at the time of writing. King Kauffo win, Only Opera saver.
Race 7: Mclardy Mcshane Insurance Swan Hill (Bm62), 4:30PM, 1750m
Switch Hit grinds; Nightynight finishes. Two different profiles, both live.
Nightynight comes off a win, her only run in the last three months, and her form of 2, 2, 1, 8, 8, 1 shows she can bounce back after a poor patch. A light weight is a help over 1750m. Switch Hit has placed in five of six runs over the same period without winning, and with Yendall and Freedman together he is the each way play in the race.
Great Prosperity has placed in each of his last three starts and should be in the finish too. If the pace is on, Nightynight‘s finish wins it. Back Nightynight to win and Switch Hit for a place.
Race 8: Bottle-O Xmas Races Friday 20th November Book Now (Bm62), 5:00PM, 1312m
The last race has the deepest field and more than one horse coming off a win. Neziha is our pick: she won her latest start, her only run in the last three months, and her form of 2, 1, 4, 1 shows she is consistent. Coffey and the Hayes stable round off the card together.
Annotate won his last race and has a win and two placings from four runs in the last three months. Share The Music, a winner two starts back, has placed in both recent runs for Weir. Apocalypse is another last-start winner for T & C Mcevoy.
No market yet. Neziha to win, with Annotate and Share The Music in exotics.

Where the money goes
NAP: Magna Sententia (Race 2, 2:00PM). A debut second, the right jockey, and a field where only one rival has stronger form. Second-up maidens from this kind of first run tend to improve.
Value: She’s Loaded (Race 3, 2:30PM). $4.40 with Bet Right against an unraced favourite. Four placings from five recent runs and a trainer who wins here more often than not.
Banker: What Once Was (Race 1, 1:30PM). $2.05 with Neds. Placed in all three runs this spring and the best formed horse in a weak opener.
Each-way: Ted Percy (Race 4, 3:00PM). $4.60 with Unibet. Two placings from three recent runs, and the longer trip should suit.
Course angle: Mitchell Freedman. Five winners from eight Swan Hill runners, with She’s Loaded, Efreeti, Motiver, Switch Hit and Yoomee Wonder all on the card today. Freedman runners are the Swan Hill best bets angle until the record says otherwise.
If Freedman keeps this strike rate with five runners on one card, Swan Hill punters will be checking his acceptances before anyone else’s.
