Sunshine Coast Racing Tips 3 Nov 2026: Col Burn Again?

Overview

Col Burn arrives at Sunshine Coast with two wins from the last four starts and two wins from three visits to this track, and with Divine Justice scratched from Race 11 Col Burn looks the horse to build the day around. David Vandyke wins with roughly one in five runners here, and Corey Sutherland gets the ride from the outside gate.

The rest of the card is a grind: twelve races, a Polytrack maiden to open at 12:29PM and eleven races on a turf track rated soft, with plenty of middle-grade handicaps and maidens. Several horses are entered in two races, so expect the final fields to shift before the jump. These Sunshine Coast racing tips work through every race, flag the stables that keep winning here and finish with a short list of where the money should go. The best of it sits late: Oohlalouvre and Out Of Turn clash in Race 7, and the quaddie from Race 9 has a strong anchor in Col Burn.

Reading the Sunshine Coast card

Jack Bruce is the trainer to respect at this track. The stable has won with 27 of 110 runners here and placed with six in every ten, and has live chances in Races 2, 7 and 9. Renita Beaton runs at an even better win rate from a smaller sample, and the stable’s runners in Races 4, 6, 9 and 10 all need a look.

Trainer Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
Jack Bruce 110 27 66 24.5 60.0
Renita Beaton 34 9 19 26.5 55.9
Chris & Corey Munce 65 6 33 9.2 50.8
Matthew Hoysted 55 8 26 14.5 47.3
J W Healy 66 14 30 21.2 45.5
David Vandyke 53 11 23 20.8 43.4

Among the riders, Jake Bayliss has the volume: 123 rides here and 59 of them in the placings, which is why those mounts get a second look even when the form is plain.

Jockey Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
R Wiggins 22 3 11 13.6 50.0
Jake Bayliss 123 12 59 9.8 48.0
Corey Sutherland 87 9 33 10.3 37.9
Benjamin Osmond 32 3 12 9.4 37.5
Tiffani Brooker 112 12 33 10.7 29.5

A good number of today’s runners have been here before, which makes the horse table worth having.

Horse Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
Oohlalouvre 5 3 5 60.0 100.0
Out Of Turn 4 3 4 75.0 100.0
Heart And Spirit 7 2 5 28.6 71.4
Fiery Lass 4 2 3 50.0 75.0
Bit Of Grunt 6 1 4 16.7 66.7
Evade The Game 9 1 4 11.1 44.4
Vredefort 10 0 3 0.0 30.0

Sunshine Coast race by race

Race 1: MC Polytrack Mdn Plate, 12:29PM, 1600m

Seaticflash has three runs on the form line, reading 3rd, 2nd and 4th, which is the steadiest profile in a maiden full of horses that have had plenty of chances. J W Healy wins with about one in five runners at this track, and Corey Sutherland drops in at 55kg from barrier 5, so the setup is right for a first win on the synthetic.

Poor Ol’ Johny Ray is the danger. Three straight thirds says this one keeps turning up, and R Wiggins has placed on half of 22 rides here. Kalamia King and Fastest Choice have both had enough goes to show they find one or two better. Win bet on Seaticflash, small.

Race 2: Stockyard Valley Weddings Hcp (58), 1:04PM, 1800m

Who wants to win this? Dun Darte Cheap, Lord Protector and Ready To Drink are all scratched, and what is left is a field of horses who have struggled to string runs together. Evade The Game has the most experience of the track, with a win and four placings from nine starts here, and Corey Sutherland rides from barrier 6 at 55kg.

Ormond Road is the one that worries me: 2nd and 3rd at two of the last three starts, and just 52kg with Kayla Johnston aboard, although still looking for a first win here after seven tries. Fifty Calibre has won twice at the track for Jack Bruce, but three runs in the last 90 days have not produced a placing. Hard to have a strong view. Small each-way on Evade The Game, or watch it.

Race 3: Stockyard Valley Weddings (Bm70), 1:04PM, 1400m

Only four runners have riders listed for this one, so it shapes as a tactical affair, and Ikasara is the class runner of them, with a win and two placings from three starts here and back to back 2nds at the last two runs. Todd Pollard has won with four of 17 runners at the track.

Bit Of Grunt has the course record to argue with, a win and four placings from six visits, and 54kg is a nice weight. The catch is that Rob Thorburn is listed for both Bit Of Grunt and Liberty Steps, so check the final riding arrangements before betting. Ikasara to win.

Race 4: 91.1 Hot FM (Bm55), 2:19PM, 1400m

Renita Beaton‘s strike rate at this track is the starting point here. Hawaiian Bloom‘s form line reads 1st, 8th, 3rd and 2nd, and the last 90 days have produced a win and four placings from five runs. Maddie Mankelow rides at 55kg from barrier 4, a gate that allows a handy run.

Beached As Bro is the obvious threat after a last-start win, and Corey Sutherland is a strong booking. Son Of Satono resumes from a spell with 60kg, which is a lot to ask fresh. Hawaiian Bloom win and place.

Race 5: Streeter Industries Mdn Plate, 2:19PM, 1000m

No Wallet Reg has been knocking on the door, running 3rd and 2nd at the last two starts, and both visits to this track have ended in the placings. Jake Bayliss rides for J R Bayliss, and a rider who finishes in the placings on almost half of all rides here suits a horse that just needs one thing to go right.

Cool Zumbelina ran 2nd on debut, the sort of first-up effort that often leads to a win next time, but barrier 17 over 1000m on a soft track is a big ask. Emphatique keeps placing without winning. Aurora’s Thunder is also entered in Race 6. No Wallet Reg to win, saver on Cool Zumbelina.

Race 6: Civil Scapes Mdn Plate, 2:59PM, 1100m

A thin maiden. It’sall About Mary ran 2nd at the latest start and has three 2nds among the six runs on the form line, which makes this the most reliable of the exposed horses, and barrier 3 helps. D J Hansen trains and B El-Issa rides.

The danger is the unraced Our Red Ripper for Renita Beaton, a trainer who wins with more than a quarter of the stable’s runners here. If the market is strong for the newcomer, take note. Law And Order‘s last three runs read 8th, 4th and 0. Small win bet on It’sall About Mary, nothing more.

Race 7: 91.1 Hot FM (Bm70), 2:59PM, 1000m

Oohlalouvre grinds; Out Of Turn has the gate. That’s the race in a sentence, and it’s the best contest on the card.

Oohlalouvre has won three of four starts in the last 90 days and has finished in the placings on all five runs at this track, three of them wins. The recent form reads 1st, 2nd, 1st, 1st. Jack Bruce has the record at this track, and Benjamin Osmond rides at 61kg. Barrier 9 is the worry over 1000m, because some petrol has to be burnt to find cover.

Out Of Turn has a remarkable record here: three wins and four placings from four starts, and a form line of 1st, 8th, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 1st is as strong as anything on the card. Out Of Turn jumps from barrier 1 with 60kg and Corey Sutherland, which hands Out Of Turn the rail run. G K Batts has had four runners at the track and three have won.

I lean Oohlalouvre because that form is more recent and stronger over the last three months, but there is very little between them and Out Of Turn‘s draw may yet decide it. Heart And Spirit, two wins from seven here, is the best of the rest. Back Oohlalouvre to win and take the quinella with Out Of Turn.

Race 8: Civil Scapes Hcp (55), 3:44PM, 1000m

Wally’s Boy comes in off a last-start win, and the three runs in the last 90 days include that win and a 2nd. This is a first visit to Sunshine Coast, but 58kg on a 1000m track with Fiona Sandkuhl is a fair job. Zouslayer and Dashing Hope are scratched, which takes two of the speed horses out.

Herecomesantorini is the danger with Corey Sutherland: a 9th last time, but 2nd the start before and a win further back on the form line. The Sour has placed in two of three starts here. Vredefort, Ralos Star and Gallery Master are also entered for Race 10. Wally’s Boy to win.

Race 9: Future Wealth Partners (Bm62), 3:44PM, 1600m

The market may lean to the Jack Bruce pair, Luconi and Mr Bubbaluski, which is fair enough given the stable’s record here. But Fiery Lass is the horse I want: two wins from four starts at this track, two wins from six runs in the last 90 days, and in with 53.5kg, the lightest weight in the race. Renita Beaton trains and Maddie Mankelow rides.

The question is whether the 5th and 7th at the last two starts were a blip. The form line still carries two wins before that, so the ability is there. Caishen is the each-way danger: three starts here, three placings, no wins, and Chris and Corey Munce place with half their runners at the track. Luconi has two placings from three runs in the last 90 days. Fiery Lass win and place.

Race 10: Logic Solar (Bm55), 4:24PM, 1100m

Unfaithful has two wins on a form line that reads 7th, 1st, 1st, 7th, 4th, 6th, and has a win from three starts here. Another Beaton runner, another Mankelow ride, and 57.5kg from barrier 8 is manageable over 1100m. The form has drifted since those wins, so a bounce back is needed, but the class drop to a Benchmark 55 helps.

Quit ‘N’ Tap is the danger, a win from three starts here and top weight of 60.5kg with Corey Sutherland. Vredefort has run ten times here without a win, which says enough. Unfaithful each-way.

Race 11: Future Wealth Partners Plate (C3), 4:24PM, 1400m

This is the bet of the day. Col Burn has won two of four starts in the last 90 days and two of three at Sunshine Coast, and the form line reads 1st, 0, 1st, 5th, 2nd, 1st. That is a horse in a winning groove, and David Vandyke has a strike rate above 20% here.

Barrier 14 is the one knock, but at 1400m Corey Sutherland has time to slide across or settle back and come with one run. The scratching of Divine Justice, a winner at each of its last three starts, removes the horse most likely to beat Col Burn.

Global Eclipse is the danger for Chris and Corey Munce, with a win and another placing from three runs in the last 90 days, and barrier 1 gives Benjamin Osmond every option. Half Moon Roo has a win here from four starts. Back Col Burn to win.

Race 12: Logic Solar Hcp (62), 5:00PM, 1400m

Inside Passage closes the card for Stuart and Bayley Kendrick with Jake Bayliss aboard. The form reads 1st, 8th, 6th, 3rd, 1st, 2nd, and four runs here include a win and three placings. 60kg from barrier 13 asks a fair bit, but the recent level makes this the one to beat.

Elusive Domina is the main danger: a winner two starts back, a win from four visits here, and with 56.5kg from barrier 1 the run of the race is there for Tiffani Brooker. Kozak Prince won here once from two starts, but the last two efforts were 9th and 9th. Kobability is scratched. Inside Passage each-way, saver on Elusive Domina.

Where the money goes

NAP: Col Burn (Race 11, 4:24PM). In winning form and two from three at the track; the wide gate is the only thing in the way.

Value: Fiery Lass (Race 9, 3:44PM). Two wins from four starts here and the lightest weight in the race. If the Bruce pair take the money, this should be the overlay.

Banker: Oohlalouvre (Race 7, 2:59PM). Five runs here, five placings, and three wins from the last four starts. Out Of Turn is the danger, but Oohlalouvre should be in the finish.

Each-way: Hawaiian Bloom (Race 4, 2:19PM). Lightly raced, consistent and trained by Renita Beaton, who wins with more than a quarter of the stable’s runners at this track.

Course angle: Jack Bruce and Renita Beaton. Bruce has 27 winners from 110 runners here and Beaton nine from 34. Between them they have runners in six races today.

The Sunshine Coast best bets come late, so if you are building a quaddie, use Col Burn as the anchor in Race 11 and spread in Races 9, 10 and 12.

If Col Burn wins again, Vandyke will have every reason to aim higher before the summer.
