Overview
N Callow has ridden 17 winners from 65 rides at Morphettville and finished in the first three on 40 of them, and today he has a ride in eight of the nine races. Three of those are for Phillip & Tommy Stokes, and that partnership has produced 8 wins and 19 placings from 30 runners on this track.
The track is rated Good. Nine races run from 12:22PM to 5:40PM local time, opening with a two-year-old plate over 1000m and closing with the 77th Annual Legacy Race Day (Bm70) over 1400m. These Morphettville racing tips go through all nine, the riders and stables with real numbers at the track, and a quaddie built around Bohemian Angel. Only the first two races had bookmaker prices up when this was written, so odds below come from those.
Reading the Morphettville card
Plenty of today’s runners have been here often enough for their record to mean something. Eight of them have placed in at least three of their Morphettville starts.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bohemian Angel | 4 | 1 | 4 | 25.0 | 100.0 |
| Harmonic Dancer | 4 | 0 | 4 | 0.0 | 100.0 |

| Jilladora | 5 | 2 | 3 | 40.0 | 60.0 |
The riders tell a clearer story. Callow sits well clear on place rate. J Holder has the volume, 29 winners from 197 rides, and he has six rides today.

Morphettville racing tips, race by race
Race 1: Sportsbet Green Tick Plate, 12:22PM, 1000m
Five two-year-olds, none of them with a race start, so this comes down to stables and the market. The market has spoken loudly for Hard Copy at $2.00 with Bet Right. R & C Jolly have the deepest Morphettville record of anyone on the card, and Jake Toeroek, who has 18 winners from 122 rides here, is on board. The stable’s other runner, Miss Parton, is $5.00.
Hot Angel at $3.50 is the danger from barrier 1. D Clarken and O Macgillivray place close to half of their runners on this track, and the inside draw gives Will Price the choice of where to sit. With no form to go on, $2.00 is skinny. Small win bet on Hard Copy, or watch it and learn something for later in the spring.
Race 2: Sportsbet Feed Mdn Plate, 12:57PM, 1400m
Is Buffo really a $3.40 shot? The form line reads 5-6-2-4-9, the latest run its worst, and it has one placing from four starts in the last 90 days. Intimus has been more consistent: three placings from four runs in the same window, finishing 3-3-2 in its last three, and it draws barrier 2 with 54.5kg.
At $5.00 with Unibet, Intimus is the better ratio of price to profile. Opal Heritage ($7.00) is the one that could spoil it. It has only two starts, both seventh, but Callow rides for the Stokes stable, and that combination places on 19 of its 30 runners here. Win bet on Intimus.
Race 3: Sportsbet More Places Hcp (62), 1:32PM, 1400m
Two different profiles sit on top. Blue Valentine wins races. Harmonic Dancer just keeps finishing in the frame.
Blue Valentine has placed in all four runs in the last 90 days, won the latest of them, and picked up $38,855 doing it, the most of anyone in the field. Jake Toeroek rides, and barrier 12 is the only knock. Harmonic Dancer has placed in all four of its Morphettville starts without winning one, and in all three of its recent runs, so Callow on the inside from barrier 3 should see it in the finish again.
Chur Nibble is the other one to respect, with a win and another placing from three recent runs. Four have come out, so the field is down to twelve. Win on Blue Valentine and a place bet on Harmonic Dancer.
Race 4: Philip Bryant Memorial (Bm80), 2:12PM, 2260m
Suit Of Wands has been the most reliable stayer in this part of the world all spring. Six placings from seven runs in the last 90 days, two of them wins, $79,750 earned, and the form line ends 1-2-3-4-2-1 with a win last start. It has also placed in three of its four Morphettville runs, one of them a win.
The weight helps too. Suit Of Wands carries 52.5kg for Will Clarken and Charlotte Sorby, the lightest weight among the main chances, and over 2260m that matters. Jordyn Weatherley rides. Barrier 13 means it will need to be ridden cold early and come with one run, which suits a horse that finishes the way this one does.
Retourne is the obvious danger. It has won two of its five starts here, both inside the last 90 days, and has $86,150 in prizemoney from that period. The last two runs (5 and 4) are the reason it might be a touch bigger than it should be. Harry Grace rides, and he has 17 winners at Morphettville.
Princess Painton won at its only Morphettville start, and Fiora Blue has placed in three of four here. Both can run a place. Win bet on Suit Of Wands, saver exacta with Retourne.
Race 5: Claude Haigh Memorial (Bm68), 2:52PM, 1250m
Stockman’s Choice comes in on two straight wins, both inside the last 90 days and worth $25,000 between them. It is the horse on the way up in a field full of horses that have been around the grade a while. Barrier 2 and 57.5kg are a good combination, and Jackson Murphy rides for Aaron Bain and Ned Taylor.
From The Block is the danger on raw numbers. It has won two of six recent runs and has $70,500 to show for the period, but it carries topweight of 62kg and is 1 from 9 at the track. Delightful Shecky won its latest start and has one win from four Morphettville runs. Win bet on Stockman’s Choice.
Race 6: Mimi’s Fast Fillies (Bm68), 3:32PM, 1250m
This is the best bet on the card. Bohemian Angel has finished in the first three in all four of her starts at Morphettville. She has also run four times in the last 90 days, placing every time and winning the latest, for $41,550. The form line reads 4-2-3-3-3-1, a filly who kept knocking on the door before getting through.
Callow rides for the Stokes stable again. He has won on more than a quarter of his rides at the track, and for this stable he has placed on 19 of 30. From barrier 5 she should get the run of the race just off the speed.
Canny Miss is the threat. She has won two of three runs in the last 90 days and won at her only Morphettville start, so she is unexposed and still improving. Meg’s Magic has placed in all three recent runs for Sarah Rutten. Win bet on Bohemian Angel, with Canny Miss the saver.
Race 7: Mary Ford 90th Birthday (Bm86), 4:12PM, 1250m
The question here is whether Anotherhouse can keep climbing. It has won its last two, both inside the last 90 days, for $57,300, and has placed in three of four Morphettville runs, one a win. Now it steps up to a Bm86, and still carries just 52kg.
That weight is the reason to stick with it. Alysha Warren rides for Kristi Evans. Light The Night is the danger with the best local record in the race, two wins and four placings from five starts here, and J Holder in the saddle. MT Niseko won last time and Callow rides it for Chris Bieg. Win bet on Anotherhouse, exacta with Light The Night.
Race 8: Beyond Bank Hcp (64), 4:52PM, 1000m
Confucious Flyer has had two career starts, both at Morphettville, for a win and a second, and won last time out. That is not a big sample, but it is a clean one, and Callow keeps the ride for S P Gower. A 1000m sprint from barrier 6 should suit a horse that already knows the track.
Real Heir is the one to watch at a bigger price. Mick Shepherdson has won with four of his ten runners at Morphettville, and Real Heir comes in off a win, with two placings from two runs in the last 90 days. Super Wonder has a win and two placings from four here and knows how to run a 1000m. Win bet on Confucious Flyer, a small each-way on Real Heir.
Race 9: 77th Annual Legacy Race Day (Bm70), 5:40PM, 1400m
You Sexy Thing has placed in all three of its Morphettville starts, winning one, and has placed in all four runs in the last 90 days, two of them wins. That spell is worth $76,900, which is more than any other horse in this race has earned in the period by a long way. It won last start, and Ben Price rides for Travis Doudle.
Ronny Bee is the danger, with three placings from three runs on this track and a recent form line of 3-2-2-3. It finds the frame but has not won here yet. Jilladora, two wins from five here, is the third. Scandalize and Romantic Encounter are out. Win bet on You Sexy Thing.

Where the money goes
NAP: Bohemian Angel (Race 6, 3:32PM). Four from four in the placings at the track, a win last start, and the stable and rider combination that does best here.
Value: Intimus (Race 2, 12:57PM), $5.00 with Unibet. Placed in three of four recent runs, yet priced behind a favourite whose form is going the other way.
Banker: You Sexy Thing (Race 9, 5:40PM). Placed in every Morphettville start and every run in the last 90 days.
Each-way: Harmonic Dancer (Race 3, 1:32PM). Never out of the first three in four starts at the track.
Course angle: Follow N Callow, especially for the Stokes stable. He rides Opal Heritage, Harmonic Dancer, Inevitable Award, Thebigsosso, Bohemian Angel, MT Niseko, Confucious Flyer and Alpine Flyer today.
Quaddie (Races 6 to 9): Bohemian Angel and Canny Miss, then Anotherhouse, Light The Night and MT Niseko, then Confucious Flyer, Real Heir and Super Wonder, and You Sexy Thing with Ronny Bee to finish.
If Callow lands three or four of these, every trainer in Adelaide will be ringing his manager before the next Morphettville meeting.
