ALL AGED STAKES BETTING SNAPSHOT
Giga Kick gets out to the 1400m after finishing runner-up in the TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) and heads the market with TAB at the $2.80 quote, while Zaaki resumes and is at $5.50. Jacquinot at $8, just shades Private Eye and Mazu with that pair at $8.50.
There are 12 runners in the $1.5 million affair and Cascadian drops back in trip after claiming the Australian Cup (2000m). He is ahead of Lost And Running and the Japanese galloper, Ho O Amazon at $17. Roch N Horse heads the rest at $21.
ALL AGED STAKES FORM ANALYSIS
The Clayton Douglas-trained galloper improved a couple of lengths on figures when third up last time, taking out the Danehill Stakes (1100m) at Flemington before his triumph in the Everest. He just needs to see out the 1400m.
Mazu finished just under a length behind Giga Kick in 3rd position in the TJ Smith Stakes. He was 3rd in the Everest at this stage of his last preparation. Lost And Running (6th) and Private Eye (12th) are the others to come out of the TJ Smith Stakes. Both had a couple of excuses. Private Eye can improve out to the 1400m but probably needs the track to not get too Heavy.
Zaaki creates interest at his first run back from a spell. The eight-year-old from the Anabel Neasham stable is first up after taking out the Champions Stakes (2000m) at Flemington last November. He was a two-length winner on a Heavy 10 track at Randwick in the Tramway Stakes (1400m) when first up last spring, going a healthy 12.8 lengths faster than standard. Look for him to lead and give them something to chase.
Interesting to see where the Japanese galloper, Ho O Amazon, finds himself in the run. He might head forward and had some moderate form in Japan before placing 3rd at Group 3 level last time. Worth noting that he has had two starts on Soft decks for two wins.
Jacquinot appears for the first time in over a month and was 6th in the Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington at his most recent start when set a task from the back of the field. The Golden Rose (1400m) winner from 2022 is unbeaten in two runs over the 1400m. Both of those have been at Group 1 level.
The three-year-old produced a personal best when going 13.5 lengths faster than standard benchmark to claim the CF Orr Stakes (1400m) at Sandown two starts ago. Mr Brightside and Nugget were among the beaten brigade that day and have since finished in the top three in the Doncaster Mile (1600m) with Mr Brightside taking out the big mile race on Day One.
Cascadian always produces solid figures and is versatile enough to cope with the drop from the 2000m to the 1400m. The Godolphin galloper claimed this race last year and was dropping back from the 1600m. He had previously run 5th over the 2000m in the Australian Cup (2000m) in that preparation.
Rough hopes go to Roch N Horse and Electric Girl. Roch N Horse was 3rd in the recent William Reid Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley and defeated Giga Kick in the Champions Sprint (1200m) last spring. Her best might be down the Flemington straight. Electric Girl was 10th in the George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at her most recent start when not quite seeing out the 1500m. She was less than three lengths from the winner and nearly pinched the Canterbury Stakes (1300m) prior to that when 3rd behind Artorius.

Nice race to finish off the Group 1 action at Randwick. Willing to go with the three-year-olds in Giga Kick and Jacquinot. No reason to suggest why Giga Kick can’t get the 1400m and he produced the second fastest late splits behind I Wish I Win in the TJ Smith, while we know he likes Randwick. Value lies with Jacquinot. His two runs over the 1400m have been nothing short of first class and the form around those runs has held up. The six weeks in between runs shouldn’t be a major factor and he was one month in between runs before claiming the Golden Rose last year.
