Belmont Park Racing Tips 13 June 2026 — can the Parnham pair clean up again?

Belmont Park Racing Tips 13 June 2026 — can the Parnham pair clean up again?

If you only had time to look at one thing on this Belmont Park card, it’s the same thing I keep circling: when the Parnhams point one at Belmont, it’s rarely for a Sunday stroll. Today we’ve got Chris Parnham on Long Service Leaf in the 3yo handicap and the stable also throws a couple at the 2yo race with proper intent. With no live market feed available for this meeting, it’s a pure form and map job, which is honestly the cleanest way to bet anyway.

There are two races on the program (both on turf). I’ll keep it practical: who I want to back, why they can win, and the one danger in each that can spoil the party if the race shape flips. These Belmont Park racing tips lean hard on barriers, weights, and who has already handled this track.

Belmont Park — the setup

We’re working without a listed going report in the feed, so treat track pattern as unknown early and be ready to adjust after the first. Course form is fairly thin across the two races, mostly one-run “data points” rather than proper track trends. That pushes us back to stable intent, rider bookings and who is peaking now, not who once ran well here as a baby.

One quick horse note that matters for Race 1: Long Service Leaf won on its only Belmont Park run. One start isn’t a trend, but it’s still proof the horse handles the place.

Race-by-race

Race 1: Morley Growers Market Hcp — 11:58, 1312m

Long Service Leaf is the one I want to be with, and I don’t need to get cute about it. The profile is sharp: form reads 613-11, Chris Parnham rides, and the horse already won on its only start at Belmont. From gate 3 he lands in the first few without spending petrol, and that matters in these 1300-ish races when the tempo can get sticky mid-race.

The other big tick is recency. Over the last 90 days, Long Service Leaf has only had two runs but finished in the money both times and won one of them (so yes, small sample, but it tells you the horse is going well right now). That’s enough momentum for a 3yo handicap where plenty of these are still learning to put a full race together.

The danger is Bassett Hound (barrier 7, 124.5). The form line 53211 screams confidence and he’s with Pateman, who does strike well enough at Belmont across a proper sample (13 runners, 3 winners, 6 placings). If Bassett Hound rolls across and finds the rail without doing too much work, he’s the one most likely to make Long Service Leaf earn it late.

What I’d do: win bet Long Service Leaf. If you want a second angle, I’d save something small on Bassett Hound to win, because he’s the horse most likely to control the terms if leaders get it easy.

Race 2: MC Polytrack Plate — 12:33, 1531m

Here’s the puzzle: do you want the proven rider at the track, or the stable that’s happy to throw a couple at a race and let talent sort it out? I’m siding with the rider edge and a progressive 2yo profile, so Swift Ruler (W Pike) gets the nod despite a wide alley (gate 8).

Pike at Belmont is as bankable as it gets for a jockey with real volume: 69 rides for 22 wins and 40 placings. That doesn’t mean he wins everything, but it does mean he consistently puts horses in the right spots, and that’s gold in these juvenile races where the others can make it messy. Swift Ruler’s form 731 says he’s already learned how to win and back it up.

The horse I respect most as the spoiler is Encroaching (barrier 4) from the Morton yard. The two runs for two seconds (22) is the classic “ready to win” profile, and Lucy Fiore gets along with this circuit well enough across a meaningful sample (54 rides here). Over the last 90 days Encroaching has had two runs for two placings, which is the right sort of consistency even if it hasn’t broken through yet.

Manhattan Rhythm is the other Morton runner (gate 3) and that stable doubling up isn’t noise, but the form 47 says it needs to improve. I’m happy to watch it unless the parade ring says it’s a different horse today.

What I’d do: Swift Ruler win if the price is fair. If you’re playing more conservatively, go Swift Ruler to win, saver Encroaching. This is also the race where I’d be most willing to bet late once you’ve seen how the track is playing.

Where the money goes

I’m not trying to invent angles that aren’t there on a two-race card. Keep it clean.

NAP: Long Service Leaf (Race 1, 11:58). The horse is coming through a winning patch, draws to control the run, and it already won on its only Belmont start. With Chris Parnham up, it reads like the stable expects it to hold its form, not find excuses.

Value: Encroaching (Race 2, 12:33) if the market pushes it out because it keeps running second. Two straight placings this prep is the right base; it just needs the race run to suit.

Banker for multis: Long Service Leaf. It’s the most straightforward map and form combo on the meeting.

Each-way play: I’m not forcing one without odds, but Encroaching is the natural “place-first” bet given the 22 form line.

Course angle: In races where positioning matters, I want Pike involved. His Belmont record is built on volume and repeatability, not a three-ride hot streak. If he keeps getting the right horses in these juvenile races, the edge stays usable next time too.
