Race 6 No. 4 EQUAL BALANCE – ($6.50)
Trainer Dennis O’Leary brings the A-Grade form to Oakbank in the shape of EQUAL BALANCE. Equal Balance did not have the sharp turn of foot shown by the two inside him who fought the race out between themselves at Strathalbyn recently. He never shirked the task under Lizzie Annells either, going to the line less than two lengths off the winner. Equal Balance was then aided by a ripper of a ride from Ben Price when going to the line with Magnetic Edge in town. Lizzie can put herself into the frame by building into the race from a perfect draw and presenting Equal Balance into the straight.

Race 2 No. 8 LADY DE LUNE – ($7.50)
Happy to bet around the short-priced fav in early markets with LADY DE LUNE who is also racing first-up. She did impress as a filly last prep, including with her run at Murray Bridge on debut. Lady De Lune found herself a long way back in that 1200 metre maiden before picking runs between horses into the straight. The winner had kicked, leaving Lady De Lune with far too much work to do. She lengthened through the line late to grab third and the attention of many a punter. Should enjoy the pressure being on here which will allow Barend Vorster to bring her with a run once balanced.

Race 4 No. 8 AESCULUS – ($21)
Can certainly make the case for AESCULUS as Chris Bieg steps her out over some ground. She was a brilliant winner when stepping up to the mile from 1200 metres three runs back on a soft 5 surface. She was nowhere to be seen at the 200m after hitting a flat spot from the top of the straight at Balaklava. Felicity Atkinson continued to try to rebalance her filly, a task made harder by one laying in on top of her. Finally, Aesculus found another gear under hands and heels riding to snatch an amazing victory from the jaws of defeat. Has been kept ticking over with two runs since and now finds an ideal class one race over further.
