BEST BET 🏆
Race 4: No.1 SCARLET PRINCE ($1.95 with Palmerbet)
Locally-trained by Mitch Beer, SCARLET PRINCE is second-up today and ticks enough boxes to be considered the one to beat here. Last start, the Casino Prince gelding resumed off a six-month absence when he ploughed through a Heavy 10 to take first prize in a BM58 Hcp over 1200m at Wagga. He ran that out, 6.5 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort in this field. Simon Miller returns for the ride today and he has saluted twice previously on the four-year-old. Already a winner when second-up and a three-time winner at the distance, he will take beating here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.5 FAKE MAGIC ($2.40 with TAB)
Wangaratta-based FAKE MAGIC pops over the border today and having just his third race start, looks a good chance of going back-to-back here. Last start, the Love Conquers All gelding made it look easy when he broke through for his Maiden win over 1100m on his home track. Putting 2.5 lengths on them that day, he ran his last 600m 1.5 lengths slower than benchmark, the best in this line-up by more than three lengths, while also posting the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. He drew wide (10 of 11) and still won with ease on a Heavy 10 that day. Conditions here looks ideal for him and with a trouble-free run to the line, he should prove hard to beat today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 2: No.4 THE PRES ($2.30 with Unibet)
Canberra-based galloper, THE PRES, makes his Albury debut today and with an overdue change of luck, can crack it for a win here. Last start, the All American gelding made it six-straight top-four finishes (without a win) when he took home third prize from a BM58 Hcp over 1600m at Nowra. In a slowly-run affair, he covered the trip, 10 lengths slower than benchmark, which is still more than 3 lengths faster than his rivals here. This event is a little harder however both his career wins have come on heavy tracks so conditions today are ideal and enhance his chances in this contest. After the claim he carries 3kgs less than last start and with all things considered, he lines-up a genuine threat to this field.
