Alice Springs Tips 26/08/2022

BEST BET 🏆

Race 2 No. 2 WHITE KAPS – ($3.40)

Our Best Bet for the Alice Springs program has been a good get for us in recent weeks. WHITE KAPS has paid well, winning both his latest two starts and while we don’t expect a similar price on Friday, we’re happy to stick. Jumped brilliantly for Jessie Philpot to sit outside the leader over 1000m here before taking over part way up the straight and proving too strong. We felt he would be even better suited when stepping up to 1100m at his next start where he again put paid to his rivals despite a slight betting drift. Doubt the market will be keen to let him out this time and White Kaps can go the three-peat for Racingbase NT followers as we prepare for the weekend.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No. 2 BARTOLINI – ($3.50)

Coming back a furlong to 1200 metres looks a good formula for BARTOLINI as he gets his chance up in grade on Friday. He has knocked off three Class Two fields in as many starts while looking ever so comfortable in doing so. Tends to put himself up on the speed before breaking his rivals approaching the 400m then holding on late. Ran good time here last start over the 1400 metres as he put another gap on them approaching the home straight under Wayne Davis. Going up in class for the Winter Championship sees him find a small weight relief and we expect Bartolini to be a factor in this race.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 3 No. 5 ZELRING – ($7)

The Lisa Whittle trained ZELRING packs enough punch to upset his opponents in an open Benchmark Average race. He had been well handled by apprentice ride Jade Hampson when scoring come from behind wins here at recent starts. Became stuck on the fence when racing over this trip in a benchmark 70 race, only to find clear running when the race was all over. Sonja Wiseman took the reins, guiding Zelring to a close win when out to the mile last time and the experienced senior sticks as Whittle brings Zelring back a furlong.
