BEST BET 🏆
Race 6: No.7 HYLAND BAY ($4 with Neds)
The Inverell-based galloper HYLAND BAY is in outstanding form this time in and looks every chance of bringing up the hat-trick today. Last start, the Shamus Award gelding came off his maiden win (on a Heavy 10 at this track) where he franked that effort by clobbering his rivals in a BM66 Hcp over 2100m at Tamworth. He ran the fastest final 400m sectional that day as he crossed the line more than two lengths ahead of the field. Ideally drawn in gate two here, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen and already a winner here (on a heavy track), he looks the testing material today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.3 EEZEE BOOMER ($10 with bet365)
Cessnock galloper EEZEE BOOMER is in career-best form of late and this contest looks right up his alley. Last start, the Zebedee gelding came off an unplaced run in a rich Class 3 Hwy Hcp at Randwick when he dropped back to country class racing and finished third in a BM50 Hcp over 1450m at Quirindi. No stats are available for that meeting, however he settled too far back in the run and never a winning chance, still hit the line strongly to grab the minor prize that day. The extra distance here looks just what he needs now and today he is treated much better, given gate four for the race. Matty McGuren is reunited with him here after steering him to his maiden victory, four starts back on this track. The bagmen are being very generous today and (currently) at $10 with bet365, he is certainly worth an each-way ticket for this assignment.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 4: No.8 HASALAKE ($10 with Ladbrokes)
Locally-trained by Stirling Osland, HASALAKE is three starts into this preparation and improving with every start, looks ready to bring-up her first home-track victory today. Last start, the Delago Deluxe mare was third-up and found the podium when she finished third in a Class 2 Hcp over 1300m at Coffs Harbour. She finished strongly that day, running her last 600m, 5.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here. She drops in grade today and carries 2.5kgs less with Mikayla Weir on board for her first ride on the mare. Rock-hard fit and on home soil, she looks a solid each-way chance here.
