BEST BET 🏆
Race 4 No. 5 MOUNTAIN ASH – ($4)
Mile specialist MOUNTAIN ASH continues to get the job done by leading from the front. He has been able to roll along at a good tempo before kicking into the straight. Luke Campbell utilised his claim to do exactly that when he had to guide Mountain Ash from a wide gate. The pair set a strong tempo before giving the field the slip on straightening. Birdieagle could make no impression on the margin as Mountain Ash kept going to score. The pair were claimed at their next start as Currimundi enjoyed a soft run to claim Mountain Ash late. Mountain Ash found Chris Parnham into the saddle next before running along once again. They were there to be beaten all the way up the straight with Mountain Ash holding Minus Looks to the line.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 2 No. 7 MARMOOGA – ($3.90)
Holly Watson remained quiet as a church mouse on board MARMOOGA as the filly shot away for a visually impressive maiden win. That was over 1100 metres here two starts ago when Marmooga ran to an early lead before giving nothing else a look-in. Settled behind the speed when moving to Class One over 1000 metres here last start. Watson hardly waited for the cutaway section as she drove Marmooga alongside the leader. Those two had an impressive stoush with the gutsy Rock This Town before pulling away for a convincing win. No hiding anywhere now as Simon Miller steps her up in class to Saturday grade.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7 No. 6 KRYSANOVA – ($5.50)
We jumped into a two-year-old race despite the lack of trial vision on the Racing WA website. That was okay as we were able to do it the old way. Trevor Andrews unveiled his sharply bred filly KRYSANOVA off a trial where she ran time. Importantly the form was there too, defeating More Special who trialled smartly herself before setting fast times on the racetrack. Where there’s smoke there’s fire in these juvenile races and the punters were on from the opening. Krysanova got herself all fired-up before being slingshot from the gates to lead all the way in an easy watch. The runner-up there was Wiley Girl who has come out to win at a short price since. There will be more pressure here as they step up to 1100m in a Group 3, however Krysanova boasts plenty of ability.
