BEST BET 🏆
Race 2 No. 5 SHOOTING SPIRIT – ($2.70)
Punters have decided being back in class is the right formula for SHOOTING SPIRIT to find the winning post in front once more. We’re going to have to agree with the market in what looks like a handy field. Not certain some of these others quite want 1200 metres just yet and there should be some pressure on up front. Shooting Spirit won his maiden in a last-stride win over this track and trip on debut last prep. He had settled back under Chris Parnham before letting down powerfully into the straight. Simon Miller sent the gelding for a spell after perhaps settling a bit too close off a good speed in the Listed Fairetha Stakes over seven furlongs. Put the writing on the wall in a fast-finishing effort behind Bondi Bubbles in the Magic Millions at Pinjarra first-up.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 3 No. 2 INFLUENCING ($3.20)
Natasha Faithful afforded INFLUENCING the run of the race first-up over this trip at Pinjarra. She made full use of their inside gate by settling the gelding just in behind the speed and found plenty of room along the inside on straightening. Influencing settled down to fight it out with Lombadina before coming away for a powerful win over the concluding stages. They ran a fair time for the race while recording a fast last 600 metres. This win came off the back of a forward showing where Influencing won his trial over 950 metres at lark Hill. Drawn to receive the gun-run again under Faithful in what shapes as an intriguing battle with Bondi Plunge who had to do it tough when breaking her maiden last start.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7 No. 12 ROMMEL’S JEUNEY ($12)
Neville Parnham has ROMMEL’S JEUNEY engaged in the last following his brave on pace performance over this track and trip a fortnight ago. Laqdar Ramoly let the horse bowl along in front where the pair were taken on early. Ramoly was keen to hold that front position and allowed his horse a little more rein as Royal Gap raced keenly to his outside. Rommel’s Jeuney dropped that other horse on turning, only to open the door for Icebergs as they straightened. Holy Watson was able to get icebergs home over the top of Rommel’s Jueney who refused to surrender under the urgings of Ramoly. They held the rest for second and should be rolling forward to lead here again on Wednesday.
