Race 3 No. 11 SAMARIA – ($4.40)

The blinkers went on SAMARIA when she pinged to the front from the gates two starts back. Came back nicely under Holly Watson to lead at a good tempo while doing it well within herself. Watson asked her to increase rounding for home and Samaria obliged by putting a gap onto her rivals. She was well clear approaching the 200 metres and Watson kept her going strongly to the line. That was just her second race start with Mitchell Pateman then finding a race for her at Belmont where she was attacked a long way from home. Samaria fought off the challenges to come away late before being claimed in the shadows by My Dilemma. Stays to track and distance and continues to improve with race experience. Since nailed late when out over further by Eldorado River who ran a promising race midweek against the pattern

Race 5 No. 1 MOI CHOUX – ($6.50)

Port Kennedy trainer Summer Dickson found a nice kick-off point for her new acquisition in MOI CHOUX. He’s a burly sort of gelding who excelled in his first-up run for more than 18 months off. Rawiller allowed his mount plenty of room to move before rolling into the race to score up the middle of the track. Since box-seated the rail when racing second-up on a strong tempo. Displayed a short-sharp sprint to hit the front under 60 kg before succumbing to one late. Finds a handy claim for Taj Dyson who can ask him to roll into the race with momentum again.

Race 7 No. 1 PLAYING MARIKA – ($13)

Stephanie Bakranich trained mare PLAYING MARIKA has shown to come back in great order this prep. Usually takes a few runs to find her best; however, Playing Marika has put the writing on the wall with fast finishes over 1400 and 1600m respectively. She closed off again when staying to the mile third-up at Ascot as Troy Turner circled the field off an even tempo. Big Screen led to the turn before kicking strongly to win. Playing Marika let him know that she was there on the line, and she would only strip fitter again. We were on last start with fingers crossed for some luck off an inside draw which didn’t eventuate. We’ll put a line through that run and Playing Marika looks better suited here with some room to move.
